The AC smells musty when it switches to recirculation mode.

Can you 'sterilise' the internals or does it have to go to a dealer? Has anyone tried to de-odorise it?

Does anyone know where the recirculation inlet on the system is located? I could maybe put some air-freshner near it.

I could not find the recirulated ventilation inlet in the passenger footwell or any reference to it in the handbook, so I contacted Lexus and got this message:

Dear Mr Carpenter

I have spoken to the technical department. I have been informed that the recirculated air intake on the 1999 GS 300 is behind the glove box.

If I can be of any further help or assistance, please do not hesitate

to

contact me.

So it is on the passenger side, but not one of the vents that you can see. I think that the best bet is to remove the filter housing blanking panel in the glovebox beneath the CD player and spray the de-ordoriser behing the filter or even take the filter out and spray it in directly.

Hi all,

does anybody actually know the location of the inlet vent you spray the stuff into on the MK1, i've had a look around mine by getting my head down into the passenger footwell, and looking as best I can behind the glove box

is it a glovebox out job and what does the vent look like?

hope you can help!

Andrew.

Redkenny :

I spoke to a service guys at Lexus yesterday and he said when they do an AirCon clean on the Mk1 or Mk2 they have a bug-bomb type canister that they let off in the car with aircon in recirculation mode. Takes about 10mins

They will sell one for about £18 + Vat
