Rear Parking Sensor Failure?

Recommended Posts

Hi, On my LS430, after a night of heavy rain , when I reverse one of the rear sensors comes on all the time:-

  • has any one fixed this problem?
  • do they pull out through the front , or is it a bumper off job?
  • How much are they each?

when it dries out is works normally again.

thanks

I have had similar problem on my recently purchased GS430 but this week it was still constantly on when in reverse gear. I decided to wipe the 4 sensors and did 3 with no problem but as i touched the 4th sensor with a cloth it vanished into the bumper. I took the car to Lexus Coventry who advised that it was a bumper off job and they have booked it in for next Wednesday. I didn't discuss how long it would take as I assume that it will be covered under the Lexus Approved warranty, since it should be secure in its fitment and not fall out when cleaned.

I am sure that your local Lexus centre will be able to answer your questions if you have not got it sorted yet.

Hi

You can pull them out through the bumper, mine have a small in line connector on the end and there is enough slack to get to it. Had three replaced when it got rear ended earlier in the year the inner ones were just over £200 each and the outer one was a positive bargain at just under £200..... cheaper to employ someone to stand behind you.... Mine is an earlier car though so they may be different...

I had one replaced under warrenty on the back. It was on the far right of the rear bumper. The problem with it was a tiny little nick in the corner of the sensor which would set it off every time you put it in reverse. Apparently it only takes a minute amount of damage for the sensors to fail.
