Security For All Of Us.

People, After reading 'tariq' thread about the attempt theft of his car, I checked the 'Gold Club' discounts.edited out

edited out.

Loads for adding little gizmos and bolt on goodies. If I am wrong, I'm sure someone will point me in the right direction. This is only suggestion, what about a group buy or someone trying to get one of companies offering good additonal security devices added to the Gold Discount list. I know all Lexus cars have a good security locks a fair well in security surveys but so do 'Fords' and look how many them get stolen.

I really haven't given the security side much thought until tonight, it's got me thinking now. I've added a couple of links below, have a look and see what you all reckon.

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,38...-553587,00.html this one is not legal in the UK, Dam good idea though. Prefer the spike through the base of the drivers seat better.

Valid point Risky,

But if members posted what security methods were used, wouldn't that defeat the purpose somewhat.... <_<

Can I remind you that information posted in the GOLD forums, is meant to stay there.. :o

Firstly applogies for mentioning info about what's in the gold forum's. Post has been edited and yes I've given my wrists a good slap.

:crying::crying:

All the protection devices are in the public domain so any body can get information on the products, And when security devices are fitted, the company concerned always puts a sticker in the window, you've only got to look at the 'IS' front windows, they must be 2 stickers on each front window, when you pick up the car from new. Another example is 'Neighbourhood Watch' they advise you put stickers informing would be 'Low Lifes' you've marked all your removeable item's. I don't think it would defeat the purpose, maybe they might think twice before attempting steal your pride enjoy.

I remember seeing a gadget that pages you when your alarm goes off.

these would be a great item

But in this day and age it is easier to steal the car keys then try and break in and not succeeding.

Hi all

I've got a mighty dot system on my vehicle which was done through work it won't stop your car getting nicked but it will help in the recover of your vehicle or if the car is stripped down for parts who ever has them parts will nicked if the police get involved

If some of you don't know what mighty dotting is i will try and explain ( bear with me )

Mighty dotting is a system where millions of dots naked to the eye are sprayed on your vehicle everywhere and on every part the only way you can see these dots are under ultra violet light and impossilble to get off or spray over.each kit has its own serial number on each dot which is inputed on a national police list when the kit is purchased. The police can retrive the number through a microscope and the light and it only take one dot for a conviction

The retails for about £250+vat but if you get a group buy i can get a discount

just got to make sure if anyone can do it or it has to be our registered garage

i will let you all know if anyone is interested

cheers

Andy

Personally, I think a tracker device is best. You can now even program your habits into the system... e.g. if the tracker sees the car moving at 3am, and you stated you never use it between 12 and 8am... they will call you on your mobile to ask if you are driving the car...

Plus the insurance saving on having the tracker would offset the annual cost of registration..

Annual payment for a Tracker Monitor is £99. Or a one off payment of £299.

That doesn't include the £550. purchase price/fitting......
