there is some attempt to disguise the car, but the lights made it obvious it was a Porsche...so made it easy looking for it on the net

Wow good spot, that's so cool spotting a future car in testing! :D

That's the Porsche Panamera, essentially a 4 door 911 to compete with the Merc CLS and the Aston Rapide - and yes I hope it doesn't look like that as that does not look good..........

Btw, it's not a rumour, Porsche have taken over the VW Group - that's what almost caused even more chaos as those stupid traders (who will never learn) starting their version of gambling on it, until Porsche stepped in to clean it up and prevent a further crunch.........

you see alot here, the VW test track is about 5km down the road.

ive seen alot of the new VW's over the years in the local Shell garage, and mercedes and VW use the A7 autobahn alot here, as its the direct route upto scandinavia

Is that the track where they took that Veyron to top speed on Top Gear a few years ago? That is so cool though, you should pull a camera out for a laugh and watch how they run

Those pics from the front look even worse, it just looks like a large saloon (like the Phaeton) with a 911 front and rear end - although it's not the first time Porsche would be making a seriously ugly but incredibly successful vehicle if it works..........

Porsche 74.1% stake in VW

Have a search for "Porsche" on FT.com or Reuters, there's tons of articles on it (as there's quite a few funds still in trouble)

A 5 second nutshell - hedge funds borrowed huge numbers of VW shares, believing the price of the shares would fall, and then sold them. The huge influx of shares into the market caused the price to drop. The idea of this, known as shorting, is that they can then buy the shares back, return the shares to their original owner, and pocket the difference between the price they sold them for and the price they bought them back for.

What they didn't know is that at the same time, Porsche were quietly buying up large numbers of VW shares, to increase their stake in the company. That then caused a shortage, and the price rocketed. Unfortunately for the hedge funds, they had to buy the shares back at a sharply increased price, meaning that instead of pocketing the difference they had to pay out vast sums of money to buy enough shares to cover their original positions.

All quite amusing, really.

Cheers for the info Mike_B and Parthiban. Not sure what Porche would do at VW, doesnt look like they've made themselve welcome by that article, they would own all of Audi, Skoda, Seat etc as well could all go tits up.
