Sudden Engine Throatiness

I was driving my IS200 SE the other day when suddenly my engine started to sound really throaty, whenever I applied the accelerator the 'throatiness' increased, I have not experienced a loss in power or any other side-effects of this noise but now my car sounds like it's been chavved - up ! Its all slightly annoying as I have just had an MOT. Could this be a hole in my exhaust? Or something else?

Thanks in advance.
