i dont know whats happened in the past so i am in no why justifying any one elses actions but it strikes me as a little harsh that if i find a dirt cheap bargain and i buy it to relist on ebay at a higher price (still cheaper than normal) and someone on here wants it, i am unable to tell them?

the issue is the advertising of it on here..

that could be considered trading IMO.

i wouldnt call it trading, u would need a trade licence for that, i would just call it common sense. Everybody has access to eBay to find the bargains, if i brought wheels for £1 and relisted them on eBay at £100 but the RRP was £200 i would certainly tell people on here about the listing, if somebody really wants those wheels and were prepared to pay £200 for them then we both make a tidy £100. Nobody does anything for free.

if thats the ruling IMO its ridiculous, nobdy forced anyone to buy anything, and if anyone did they were surely happy with the price they paid at the time.

Phil, in another post you post the other day, you post something about fitting virgin box with 50 extra channels or something like that, was you going to do that for free ?

It would of been free for you but i would of been paid commission on it! Or should i got back to virgin and tell them to stick their commission cus im just a nice guy like that.

Its ridiculous. If you dont wanna pay the price dont buy it! Its pathetic that people get jealous cus they aren't in the same position. Im sure if if i gave you a grands work of tools that you didnt need you wouldnt advertise em on here for free! Oh wait hasnt somebody recently advertised tools that they were given??? Ridiculous

Not trying to dictate what everyone should or shouldn't do, but profitting on items which have been pointed out to LOC members doesn't feel in the spirit of the club to me. Others may of course disagree.

Good point, agree with this 100%, while I don't think there was too much of an "offence", part of what makes this place so nice is the community spirit we have on here where everybody's trying to help everyone else out. But still, if he had a set spare, and it was just the one set then it doesn't seem too bad as it sounds like the original price was something a bit silly?

Just out of interest, how cheap were these wheels originally? And if so cheap, how on earth did the original seller get them so cheap that they were still making a profit on them selling them at that price?

i agree with club spirit and im all for it, helpin eachother out is great, and ive been helped many times, but especially in the current financial market, if i have something of value, i want to sell it for what i can get! If its a taboo on here then i would just not mention to any members and more than likely somone off here will buy it of eBay anyway!

I'm confused by this thread, I remember the one about the exhaust which wasn't fair at all, but this one with the wheels, what exactly is going on?

I can't see the issue with selling the 5 spokes for £140, sounds like a reasonable price (I need to put mine up for sale at some point and would prob ask a little more for them as they have good tyres etc. but technically I got them for free when I bought the car!)

I'm not sure what happened with these 11 spokes, but if genuinely bought both sets to see which colour was best (and not starting a wheel selling business) and then sold on the other set, then as long as the price asked wasn't ridiculous then I can't see the harm in it. As long as it was still cheaper than buying a set off ebay then everybody still wins?

I did get a couple of sets extra as detailed in the very first thread, and sold them on eBay for more than i paid, when the bargain ones had all gone, mine were listed at a good price (£230 for 4 new wheels isn't bad) they were never offered on LOC, I did tell LOC members of the initial seller selling them at £100

Going through all the posts and threads I cant see whats gone wrong here,

Rory was selling his 5 spoke alloys on LOC not the 7 spokes, he bought the 7 spokes from ebay and relisted them on ebay at a higher price, he never according to the links provided in this thread, offered the 7 spokes to anyone on here on LOC, at any price, reduced or not,

thats correct. (11-spoke ones tho)

Taking a slightly different tack, the 11-spoke alloys being sold by the guy on eBay were undoubtedly at a bargain price. I bought a set, unsure whether I'd fit them or not, and then later sold them on via LOC at the same price I'd paid for them.

I would have felt uncomfortable personally snapping up more than one set on eBay to make a profit on, because I (again, personally) would have felt I was potentially depriving other LOC members of a bargain.

Not trying to dictate what everyone should or shouldn't do, but profitting on items which have been pointed out to LOC members doesn't feel in the spirit of the club to me. Others may of course disagree.

Just my own thoughts.

the seller sold I think in excess of 20 sets in total so I didn't feel i was depriving any LOC members as I only had a couple of sets to sell on, I never saw it as an issue, and I still don't lol

They ranged from £120-£140 + £20 postage, £140 were unmarked, £120 had like one chip on each wheel, the seller did upgrade work for Lex/Toyota and kept the "take-off" wheels as they put it, and got to sell them on

Yep to be honest I think that's what I'd do as well - personally just because if I was making a tidy profit I wouldn't feel right doing it on here whereas eBay is an open marketplace so it's all about the profit and anyone who buys on there should have done their homework or pay the price!

Now I'm more confused, then what's the offence?

Can't believe they gave them away though, must have been the ones that got taken off new cars if they opted for the 18" ones.........

ive been up and down the uk doing things for members on here for free, from fitting superchargers, rear fog light mods to collecting engines, ive made some dam good mate along the way :D (you know how you are) ive even give away parts to help members out in the past, i have also sold parts to, one member even trying to rip me off in the process :o (The Don)

What im saying is, that lots of us on here look after one another, help one another, not try to make profit out of members, if Rory wanting to see the wheels at big profit, well thats up to him, but what really get to me is when he posts up asking someone to take the exhaust back box to the mids meet for free.

I cant see why mate, as long as the price you offering it for is not a rip off price, what you originally bought it for has got nothing to do with anyone else,

I think the only issue is, if you bought it really cheap and everyone knew on here, and then you it on here at a much much higher price then some people may have an issure with this,

but like i said earlier at no point Rory offered the 11 spoke rims at any price on LOC

Thats a perfectly fair comment mate, i wouldnt never try to rip anyone off, but if i buy something to make a profit, then im gonna make a profit, or else i'd soon as just not bother at all. Even if the price is to high, nobody is being forced to buy anything.

I'll do anything for anyone (within reason) and i have something i dont need and someone else does then its yours, i think i have offered bits and pieces in the past, but when it comes to substantial value, no body in there right mind is gonna give stuff away
