The Mod-ing Bug!

Thanks for the info Steve, sounds like a good plan for the drop links....

I'm not to sure i want to be messing around with the whole understeer/oversteer issue, i'm just looking for a set of ARBs that will improve the cars cornering ability, reducing roll...

As far as i'm aware now there are only 3 types of ARBs i could get my hands on... TTE, Cuscos and C-One...

The impression i get readin the threads are TTE sound like there very similar to OEM and won't have a noticable effect... so it down to the Cuscos and C-One... I can get the Cusco for £299 or is it really worth splashing out on the C-One at £401?? Am i gonna feel the difference in normal driving???

I don't think you've got the correct impression about the TTEs, I think they'll have a big effect on the handling. DJ Wozza has them for one, and I know that he rates them *above* his supercharger as the best mod he's done (although maybe his sound system would come close !).

You will feel the difference with any of the uprated ARBs in normal driving, yes. When you go round corners it will be so much flatter, you'll feel like you can go a *lot* faster round the same corner than before, quite safely.

The TTEs as you say Steve are way better than stock :)

To give you an idea mate after having them installed (TRD Yellows) I drove from the dealer in Nottingham and never noticed any difference until I came off at J28 of the M1 and headed towards Derby - that's a big sweeping left hand turn and the car stayed flat :)

In a straight line the only difference you'll have is that since the axles are linked much better a pothole on one can cause the other to jump as well.

Much better than stock mate :)

Chris (Aztecbandit) has the TTE ARBs and coils on his car and that felt fantastic when he gave me a lift recently :)

Don't worry though, he didn't try and tempt me with any sweets

Yeah WIM can fit ARBs along with most other parts (fitted rear shocks, exhaust and arbs for me) along with being tyre/wheel & geo guru's. WIM are c£65ph. My front droplinks needed replacing c70k miles but the rears were fine. Droplinks are expensive though at about £35 a corner from lexus and i couldn't see OEM quality parts any cheaper.

Those cusco bars use the original fittings and am not sure why they are pictured with bushes as IIRC they don't come with them.

A word of warning on those though is that I think they will change the handling characteristics of the car as they stiffen the front up way more than the rear. I think this will make the car understeer more, wheras the C-One's retain the roughly the same handling as OEM just stiffer. I expect i've got something worng, someone will let me know......:)
