Whats people thoughts on replacing calipers?

Is it best to go for the Lexus ones or any old OEM, and are some makes better than others?

Also, would it be a better option to rebuild caliper with the kit or replace with an OEM spec caliper (as price is similar)!

Are OEM spec'd parts just as good as the original parts - I know some pattern parts can be pants!!

I don't have any personal experience of this yet, so make of my opinion what you will (!), but from reading forum postings about this, given that the OEM calipers are prone to seizing and similar related problems, I really don't see any reason to go for an OEM replacement, surely a cheaper alternative (e.g. Blueprint) will be just as good if not better and significantly cheaper !

It would be interesting to hear from folk who have actually used the alternatives, of course :)

Probably true enough, the Lexus ones seems to be prone to sticking!!

Can people show price paid for any OEM spec ones such as ADL Blueprint etc?

Thanks

5 minutes ago I found a non branded car part shop that sells Calipers for my car here in Sweden. It said budweg in the information field, I googled and found this click. Looks like they are located in Denmark. This dealer trancelated "Car parts specialist" wants £145 a piece alot better price then new lexus/toyota part but ofcourse there is a catch on the dealers webpage it says that you have to send them your old calipers which could be a problem for some it is for me.... Thought I tell you guys what I had found anyway....

There are several new IS200 brake calipers on eBay like this one, for £99 plus shipping. It doesn't say who made them, I'm guessing they're Blueprint but could be wrong. The seller gives a phone number so you could always ring and ask them. Or try a local motor factors, of course.

cheers, have mailed them and will see what they say.

Pain when buying them online (non ebay) as you have to return old ones if you want the rebate, which can't be cheap bearing in mind the weight of them!

In their listing they suggest phoning them rather than emailing them, due to the amount of spam they get :)

Yeah at least with those ones you don't have to send the old ones back.
