Abs Warning Light Occasionally Flashes

Recommended Posts

Did a fair bit of work to the car today (see other thread later today/tomorrow)- including changing the drivers side headlight, and fitting a new headunit. During this my scangauge was disconnected and only re-connected when everything was complete.

What i've now found is that the ABS warning light flashes when i switch the car to 'ON' or to turn over. but if i switch it straight back off and on again, there is no warning light......

any ideas?? i seem to remember reading that the scangauge can cause some lights to come on if its disconnected then re-connected, but i dunno how to get rid of that problem.

The scangauge is showing no diagnostic faults with the car so doubts its an ABS sensor etc etc.

any help appreciated

cheers

rob

does the light go off after a few seconds?

i thin mine does this..

no mate, it stays on unless i switch the ignition off and start it again.....which kinda leads me to think it might be the scangauge making the car throw a wobly?? u didn't go near the ABS sensor did u fella....even if u did, it would surely throw the light up all the time....?

not at all.. it must be the scanguage. cant you disconnect it to see if that eliminates it?

I find that if you start the car for the first time with the scanguage connected having had it disconnected the last time that it was running the ABS light flashes when the car is stationary and the engine is running. The fix for this is that you just unplug and replug the scanguage with the engine running. Should fix the problem every time.

Glad you managed to fix it though.
