Key Battery Life

I've just followed the good advice and got a new key cut from a blank and changed the internals over but I didn't see anything that looked obviously like a Battery, just a black lump with buttons. I've also noticed that the boot button doesn't work which leads me to ask just how long can one expect the key Battery to last? Easy to change and how frequently?

The Battery is within the black lump/buttons. There should be a screw on the back of the buttons- unscrew it and you will see the Battery.

You have to hold down the boot button for a couple of seconds. If you just press it quickly it won't work.

Thanks guys, anyone on how long they last? I remember reading that something like 40% of AA calls out are to dead ignition keys/blippers.

should last well over 12 month, probably 2 years+

The ones that were in my keys were over 3 yrs old, i'd never changed them in the time i'd owned my is200 :) they had energiser batteries fitted in all 3 of the keys :)

think that the battery's life would depend on how often they are used

mine are over 6 years and still working fine :)

Yes but yours are still in there original wrappers mate

from a service point of view they should be changed every two years.its on the service sheet.
