Engine Wont Turn On !

got the lexus bus last week and everythings been fine and dandy until today

had her out all day and she was fine

started her up tonight and half way through ingnition she cut out and made a machine gun noise like ratatatatatatata and the lights went out

tried again and just the rattataa noise came on

tried again and kicked the accelerator and it eventually turned over but the revs hit the limiter n jammed n wouldnt come off!

tried again and it eventually started and ran fine,,

drove about and all was well but noticed the voltmeter only a little bit above the 9 while driving... and when i turn it off it just sturggles to come on again with the same noise and lights dimming as it turns over..

any suggestions?

Sounds like you need a replacement Battery...especially if never been changed. you could test it first or re-charge it and see if it holds the float before you spend.

As above ,sounds Battery cell failed, try another batt.

got up this morning and tried her same ticking noise and eventually turned over... drove about a bit and turned off and the noise went away though she just struggled... tried a few more times and now she starts straight away... weird

booked in at 2pm to hav a look n see wot the script is

Check how much electrolyte is in the Battery first before shelling out £££'s for a new one. It may just need topping up and a good overnight charge.

had Battery checked by 3 different garages to find it was fine so theyre must be a electric fault somehwere... popped into a bus garage for the sake of it and they noticed the egg smell and voltage dropping when cranking the engine... 49 quid later and a nice Battery from dingbros and im sorted... thanks again guys =)
