Recommended Posts

Hi, looking for a new radiator as mine is startign to look a little shabby.

just come off the phone from parkers and they have quoted me £200 all in for an ADL-BLUEPRINT. readiator.

Just wondering if this is a fair price and also what is a good brand name? as i dont really want to buy a cheap nasty recon from eBay?

IS200 radiator on ebay

Got me replacement radiator from this seller 2 years ago- had no problems with it at all.

Since fitting my new radiator, I've clocked up 30k on this replacement radiator- as said I've had no problems with this radiator or this eBay seller.

Yeah, the core size of the OEM radiator is 27mm, most non-OEM radiators core size is 16mm (mines a 16mm). A 16mm thick core will be just as good as a 27mm thick core radiator. If you want a 27mm thick core radiator then Lexus is your only choice- be prepared to pay £250 for a genuine radiator from Lexus and they will want the old one in exchange.

Edit: ADL-BLUEPRINT parts are good/quality items- good as OEM parts from Lexus. Also stick with OE radiator IMHO.

also whats the difference between the core sizes? does it play any effect in the actuall cooling of the engine? or is a 27mm just a slightly upgraded rad to the 16mm?

is it easy enough to do mate? have you got a step by step?

Got no fitting guide- but pretty easy to do.

1. Undo the 2 clamps at the top (10mm bolts). The bolts might be seized so you might have to soak them in WD-40.

2. Remove the 2 hoses (1 at the top and 1 at the bottom).

3. Unplug fan switch.

4. Lift out radiator.

5. Undo the cooling fans (more 10mm bolts).

6. Remove fan switch from old radiator and fit to new radiator.

7. Fit cooling fans to new radiator.

8. Fit radiator to car.

9. Attach the hoses.

10. Plug in fan switch.

11. Refit top clamps.

12. Fill new radiator with new coolant.

Think that covers everything?

cheers mate, spot on, what about making sure there are no airlocks etc...does the system need represurising? or is it just the same as doing a coolant change? when the new rad is all fitted etc.. do you turn the car on first then pour in the new coolant or do you slightly fill with coolant first, turn on the car with cap off then continue to fill untill it is full? making sure fans are on full heat pointing to the screen ?

Couldn't be doing with all that faffing about. When my son's Civic radiator went he got a recon version fiited by a radiator specialist for £80 including coolant in 1 hour. It came with a 12 month's warranty. No problems. He even demonstrated the leak location using a pressure test.
