Unipart Same As Ngk Spark Plugs?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Firstly just want to say what an excellent and useful forum you people have here and with my being new to the Lexus scene have been using the forum a lot and it’s helped greatly.

My problem is I ordered some spark plugs from the dreaded eBay and after reading the advice on here went for the NGK plugs. Link is below

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...e=STRK:MEWNX:IT

However I have received Unipart boxed sparkplugs, with NGK in small writing on the back of each box and NGK written on the plug.

I am confused.

I don't want to use Unipart components on my car. But if for some reason Unipart and NGK are the same then I guess that’s okay.

Am I maybe right in thinking Unipart has the right to copy NGK plugs?

Thanks in advance for any help

Get you money back if you can. I'm sure you can do them for false adverting or the likes. You should have got iridium plugs too. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NGK-IRIDIUM-IX-SPARK...=item3c9d2ce583 BKR6E11 is the performance version of IFR6T11. Alternatively you could use Denso IK20.

Have you got a pic of the actual plugs you received?

Looked at the NGK fake guide and they looked okay according to that. Just the packaging that has through me. eBay seller says

"Please excuse the packaging. I can guarantee you that these plugs are genuine Ngk spark plugs. They are simply packagaed differently by Unipart, who buy them in bulk."

What is exactly written on each plug? If its NGK IFR6T11 then you should be ok (although you may have a set of fakes).

Personally, I think you should have bought Denso IK20 (high performance) or Denso SK20 (long life) plugs. The Ik20's need changing every 30k, but the long life ones last 60k.

This all seems a little odd to me, sceptic that I am! The seller describes the plugs as platinum which they aren't although he states they are IFR6T11 and he shows an NGK box in the description. I can't help wondering why he didn't do his homework and give an accurate description and also explain that the plugs will be in Unipart boxes? Has he something to hide perhaps?

For what it's worth I would be reluctant to take a chance with these plugs - they may be OK but is it worth the risk to your engine? If the seller is genuine then he should accept a return

I bought my NGKs from the link in my earlier post and have had no problems with them, or go with the Densos as per Kam05's suggestion
