who hates the boot on my IS200. I have only had my 200 a few weeks , but one thing is really winding me up. Whenever I put anything bigger than a shoe box in the boot the hinges hit it and the boot wont close !!. ARHHHHH

Hmmmm, 3adults, one child, sleeping bags, clothes, food, wine, (not much I admit!) 4 rifles and 3000rounds of ammo when we went away for a long weekend last month. Can't be too bad!

Had to make channels for those hinges mind you!

Surface mount hinge + gasram mechanism seems a much better idea.

Also, all the rods etc under the shelf must vibrate like hell if you run a subwoofer.

yeah i know, those boot hinges are well out of date

and why are they so far into the boot

why cant they be on the edges so then at least it wont intrude on the boot

Yes they do a bit... I gotta work out some way of damping them... might just stuff some cotton wool around the fixings... :duh:

obviously, but the car is far too good to turn down jus because of a slightly small and irritating boot - the rest more than makes up for it!

I hadn't really noticed it until I opened the boot of a new VW Passat. Now that’s proper engineering with shinny silver gas struts and no intruding arms, same for the bonnet.

Just taken 30sq mtrs of old roofing felt ( took 4 visits) down to the tip, always going with a boot full of green waste.

The ski flap comes in useful for diy.

No problems , next job is taking old paving/ concrete down to the recycling centre. Always careful not to overload and I watch the weight.

I use sheets put over another piece of carpet. Did this when I had a Celica and had no problems.

To Bazza's query, they do in Hampshire recycle concrete at Household Recycling Centres. You are allowed 2 loads a day. I live in between 2 centres so I use both.

Four visits with my roofing felt saved £80 which a skip would have cost.

I must add that I am very careful and the boot is well protected with each item carefully placed.
