Handbrake Light?

Recommended Posts

Hi there folks,

Wonder if i may pick your brains?

The handbrake light on my IS has come on for no apparent reason,The problem has been there now for a couple of weeks.

I have gone down the usual route of firstly adding more brake fluid. This turned the light off but immediately came back on.

The car has been on the ramps at the local garage, pads are fine all the way round. Mechanic also bled all four brakes fine also. Car's brakes were all tested these are also in tip top condition equally balanced....

Mechanic suggested that the sensor in the brake fluid bottle located in the engine compartment may be faulty. He did remove the sensor but the light stayed on.

If you remove the fluid cover and pull up the handbrake, And then release the handbrake the light goes of momentarily but when you apply the footbrake the light comes back on.whilst the handbrake is down.

has anyone come across this problem? I'm sure Ormi or somebody with a mechanical back ground may be able to shed some light on the subject???

There is no difference in the braking at all, sharp as they come.

It's just that small light gets on my T**s.

Hope somebody can help.....

Manny

sorry mate missed your post....

it will take you two secs to change the bulb two wee round covers on the light in the boot shut, then you'll find two 10mm bolts then give it a pull job done...
