Years back I used to hire a nice car as a treat to go on Holiday in, normally it was a jag but on this occasion the hire company told me that the jag was unavailable but I would get a Lexus Legato I had never even herd of Lexus never mind a Legato. And that was my first experience of driving a Lexus, a year later I got my first Lexus gs300 mk2. and have been with Lexus ever since, as far as I could tell the only difference was the leather upholstery. It might sound silly but I think it had something to do with Lexus wanting to sell luxury cars to vegetarians :P

Im sure the Legato was sold alongside the standard GS300(with leather), guessing the legato was cheaper as there isnt leather, the mk 2 GS300 S (i think is called) sold in UK didnt have leathers, sunroof + few other bits the SE had, i do know some yrs ago japan market & demand was fairly diffirent from UK/Europe & america hence some LS400 / GS300 etc in japan dont have leather same with honda legend now i think its changed as they now use the Lexus brand in japan !
