Battery - 8 Years Old

Recommended Posts

I still have the same Battery, now 8 years from new. I had to give it a charge for the first time during the last cold spell and also topped up the distilled water for the first time ever.

Anyone else still on the original?

Mine lasted 8 years. It started "going off" when I needed to charge it up one bad winter. You will probably be OK now the winter has passed but would replace it before next winter. Those OEM Panasonic batteries are amazing.

Mine is still running the original Battery on an 8 year old car but I had to jumpstart it this weekend. Still ok day to day but caused me a lot of hassle this weekend as the main alternator fuse blew when jumpstarting it...I think it's probably time to invest in a new one before winter arrives.

Anybody have any suggestions on what type of Battery they can recommend other than the OEM one or where I can get one for a good price?

Also the AA guy replaced the 120A main alternator fuse with an 80A one for the time being but obviously want to get this replaced for the proper capacity fuse ASAP...tried a few local autopart stores and nobody seems to do 120A ones. Any idea where I can get hold of one of these other than from a dealer?
