Running in

Recommended Posts

Hiya Peeps,

Well - for the first 400 miles, I was very steady - most of the time under 3k rpm, occassional drift towards the 4k rpm. Now I have gone upto the 5k rpm more than a couple of times, and once just a little past it....... covered 650 miles so far - how long before I can thrash the pants off it????

Ive run in quite a few cars & have been told so many different ways of doing it!! Out of experience the best way....definatley is just to drive the car normally...Not thrash it but just normal through the gears keeping the engine as free revving as possible. If you keep sticking to a certain speed then the engine develops a flat spot. But saying that...pretty much all of engines nowadays dont really need running in.
