Eibach Springs And Shocks

Hi all .

Been to Nigel langs in Bolton today, via wim, for geometry and allignment doing on my is200.

Next job when I get more pennies is to put eibach sports spring on to lower by abt 30mm.

Trawled thru loads of threads and am under impression springs can be changed and still use normal dampers. Mot said slight misting on rear so thought will change these at same time as springs.

The garage said of I wad updating the springs I should really change and update shocks as well.

Am I alright with standard shocks, if not, any suggestions on best ones that don't cost the earth.

Cheers

Kev

Eibach springs will work fine with standard shocks but if you want to replace them then OE spec ones are up to the job, if you put uprated shocks in it will destroy the excellent ride quality of the car.

I'll have to correct Lance on this one:

If you go for uprated suspension you'll find that there are kits that are designed for the car giving you a firmer ride, not allways does this destroy the comfortable ride the car already has but minimizes body-roll when cornering and better steering communication as the car center of gravity is lower.

I would have a look at koni or eibach suspension with uprated brakes and lowering spring.... are scrap that all and go for coilovers that have dampening control. MeisterR has a good set (and are a sponsor so you might get a good deal)

I might be going mad ... or maybe the 300 sportcross has a different ride setup than the 200 saloon ...

mine does not like rought roads at all ... it is firm and bouncy and all factory setup. I would not call it comfortable or perfect ride lol.

I have not driven another IS to compare it though.

The sport models have lower suspension and are quite crashy I found in comparison to SE models. Maybe that's the difference you're feeling.

Also that 2JZ is a heavy lump up front!
