Low Level Oil Warning

my low level loil light came on. I put a litre of lexus oil in. Did 2000 miles over 4 days and light has come on again.

Done 110000 miles in total and bought this GS300 2005 only 3 weeks ago with full lexus service history. Any suggestions, should i have put more oil in ?

The low oil warning light comes on when the level falls to the minimum required before engine damage occurs as Donmar says the actual level is checked by pulling the dip stick and reading the level with the engine cold and on level ground.

If it needs it top the oil up until it reaches the maximum mark then check it weekly, if it drops quickly then it's either burning it s losing it.

It could of course be a faulty sensor but again a look on the dipstick level will confirm the actual level.

When was the last service done?
