Is there any way to stop this as mine touch wood are ok for now.

Perhaps putting some sort of plastic bag/pouch over them and zip tying it up for something like that?

Anyone done this or know if its safe to do?

Perhaps a squirt of WD40 may delay water ingress but covering with a plastic bag may hinder their operation plus condensation may build up inside making it worse.

The other things to spray may be the link rods as they have a tendency to fracture.
