Right then I am slowly getting around to fixing all the little faults on my LS400

Right I have a '93 L reg LS400, they key central locking has never worked since I got it, ordered a Battery and still don't work. Took my key to my mates garage and he read the key and says its not transmitting.

My question is, can I just order a chip for somewhere and programme it like I did on my IS200 or is it completely different

The key is mated to a replaceable chip fitted to the remote locking ECU located on the left side of the trunk behind the carpeting but the key/chip comes as a package.

Before doing anything have you checked the small remote on/off switch below the door mirrors position control to make sure it is switched to on?
