I hope I'm not breaking any rules here as I'm just sounding people out. I will pull my finger out and get gold membership shortly, I promise Steve.

A friend and I are moving into the alloy wheel refurb business as we already sand blast large metal work and so it seems logical with our passion for cars to diversify.

We have already blasted and powder coated wheels for some rally guys amoungst others in order to make sure we are competent and they seem happy so all good on that front.

I don't wish to appear to be advertising as we are still building a bigger powder coat oven and obviously we can't take orders as yet. I just wanted to know in the name of research, how many of you were considering refurbing your alloys and if so would you prefer powder coating or paint? Also what sort of price range you considered fair. I would obviously give a decent discount to members provided we can make the numbers and logistics work.

I can't speak for the site but I would think a bit of market research like this wouldn't be problem. That said If powder coating can match the factory finish them I'd be all for it as it tends to be more durable

Don't mind but whichever is the better more durable one. If I'm shipping stuff around then I'd want to pay £30 P A

Getting mine done soon, I may do them myself, if not a local paintshop does them for £50 each (paint that is) Shame you're not near me (Sussex coast)

Not good enough apparently which is why we are leaning towards powder coating as a preference.

Mine were originally polished alloy I think - the spare still is - anybody know what that would cost?

Well distance may not need be a problem, its one of the things we are looking into.

Just had 4 incredibly tatty original 2001 wheels refurbished for £220. (Powder Coated)

They are the set I use for my winter tyres, and when I got them out of the shed to put them on in December 2 tyres had gone flat because the wheels had become porous. OK now.
