Lexus Privilege Service Club

Recommended Posts

I keep getting letters from Lexus Sheffield pointing out their "competitive" prices re service and repairs. They also highlight in bold, the Lexus Sheffield Lexus Privilege Service Club. Does anyone have any experience of this and any benefits, what it is, what it costs, and whether its worth considering joining it?

My 53 plate RX 300 has done 59200 mls. i am considering the 60 K one being done at Lexus, but will need to get a bit more on the idea of cost first - considering my plans for the length of time I intend to keep it. Just wondered, about the above as the wording of the letter implies saving money by joining this club... Always the sceptic I thought I'd ask if anyone uses it first.

Thanks

Hi Ronnay,

had my major service done at Lexus Sheffield using their Lexus Essentials service plan, also had gear box oil changed ( £50),if your Lexus is over 5 years old you are entitled to this cut price servicing, plus you get a Lexus stamp in your service book ( priceless, almost) AND you can request a courtesy car and they clean it!

It cost about £80 quid more than my local garage quoted, and is worth a damn site more than that should you come to sell it!

Cheers Jason

The easiest and quickest way to find cost, benefits etc. would be to request that they furnish full details to you. Also worth noting that Lexus Sheffield, Hull, Lincoln will almost certainly quote you different prices............even on the so-called fixed price "Lexus Essentials service" They are all getting desperate for business and are offering some decent deals currently.

Just had a discussion with service manager. He reckons about £430 ish for full service inc spark plugs, and as car is now 10 yrs old he advises timing belt change. This is £300 + vat. So if I were to go ahead with this I am pretty much looking at £800 give or take...

Right now, I cant afford to upgrade to a more expensive vehicle. But the thing which is always in the back of my mind is the balance of how long we'll keep the car, and the chance of more things going wrong over the next few years. As great as it is, it's 10 yrs old pretty much and counting....

I hate the issues that cars create...

I suppose you have to consider that when you come to sell it if the timing belt is due to be changed you are going to be knocked back on the selling price for that. You are going to have to get it serviced I guess as it appears that you aren't imminently planning to sell it? See if the dealer will do you a deal for the service and belt change?

So how much will it cost you if the cambelt snaps? ANY car needs to be correctly maintained and I,for one, would be constantly worrying about possible breakdowns if I didn't maintain mine. Upgrading to a more expensive vehicle will not negate the need for proper maintenance and will cost you more long term.Prior to purchase did you not research the maintenance/service items which would be required during your period of ownership?

Hi,

not everything has to be done by Lexus, full set of genuine Denso SK20R11 RX300 spark plugs £60 eBay, fit them yourself or get Lexus to fit them for you during the service, cam belt change can be done by a local cam belt specialist, I paid £240, if you say " Im paying cash, whats your best price", that can save you too.

What you re after is a well looked after car, with a Lexus stamp in the service book come sale time! NOT every thing done by Lexus main dealer.

When your front and rear 02 sensors fail and Lexus quote you £660 will you pay it cos its Lexus? or will you buy Denso dox 0243 from sparkplugs.co.uk for £150 quid and fit them your self, afterwards rewarding your self with a damn fine bottle of scotch from the £510 you saved by thinking outside the box( lexus dealer)!

cheers Jason

Pardon my naivity with this next question, but the only dealings I have had with Lexus sheffield is for a recall. The website link is for Lexus.co.uk. How do the prices displayed on here, translate to those quoted by the dealership? Obviously the dealer is independent in some sense of prices and services, but are they obliged or otherwise to reduce prices in line the those shown on Lexus.co.uk?

Just so I can have some understanding before mentioning these prices to dealer.

Thanks

Hi Ronnay,

the prices quoted on the website are the prices Lexus dealers have to charge, its part of the franchise contract, if you mention the prices quoted on the Lexus website and they do not agree to them you have a genuine reason to report them to Lexus Uk!

I should nt imagine for a second that they would quote anything apart from the fixed price servicing prices!

Cheers Jason

Lexus Guildford quoted me £211.00 for a minor service and 49.00 for an MOT. I was told the MOT was £54.00 but " I can do a deal for you at the moment of £49.00". I will be calling them back tomorrow and asking why the difference to which is quoted on the fixed price promise. I will also call Lexus Croydon to see what they quote me, as they are actually closer than Guildford.

To be honest,I actually thought £211.00 was a decent price until I logged on.

Thanks to all for the advice that is posted on here.

Got a quote for the 70k service at Lexus Croydon for £180.00. Asked why it was not £159.00 as stated on the fixed price promise and was told that the £159 price was with semi synthetic oil change and doesn't include the stamping of the service book and the £180.00 price includes fully synthetic oil and the book gets stamped. Also offered me a courtesy car for £20.00 for the day.

I booked it in, but if there are any other recommended Lexus dealers within a reasonable distance that will charge the advertised price, I'd be prepared to travel.

Thanks Gary, but Stockport is just a little too far.

In 11 years of owning a Lexus and using Lexus dealers for servicing etc. I have NEVER been charged for a courtesy car. I have used Coventry, Leicester (once) & Lincoln (once so far).

Being charged for a courtesy car at a Lexus main dealrer? Outrageous! The only way you should pay anything is if your insurance doesn't cover the loan but that's the only reason. Ask to speak to the dealer principal and clarify the situation and then say you intend to refer it to Lexus UK.

I thought you southerners are always heading north to watch united... I also hear Stockport has a very interesting hat museum near the dealership.LOL

Funnily enough, I often head north to watch united. Not the united you mean though, the one and only mighty Leeds United.

Erm, maybe not mighty any more and I probably should have kept that quiet the way we are shaping at the moment. :whistling:

Thanks for the replies regarding the car, I will be contacting Croydon tomorrow and more than likely shopping around if they can't better the offer.

  • 1 month later...

My RX400h SE-L 55 plate has done 120,000+ miles. Took it in to Lexus Guildford yesterday for its service. I was given a brand new 450h [no charge] and I got back a 400h

that felt as 'tight' as the 450h and almost everything was changed - except brake pads - at least 10,000 miles left and cleaned and key Battery changed [no charge either].

They left an order form for a new 450h in the glovebox! Really impressed with Lexus Guildford...... :D Thanks Steve.....
