Sold my RX400h yesterday to another LOC member yesterday :-( hope he enjoys it. I have bought a Mitsubishi Shogun Pinin to use for work but need a fun vehicle for the weekends / long journeys / holidays , i am thinking of buying a Mazda RX8 and am asking for other peoples thoughts / ideas.

The RX8 will fall foul of emissions costs. It isn't economical on fuel or oil. A lot of people fall foul of the 1.3cc description when in reality it is 2.6cc. They're cheap for a reason.

A up

Have been through 2 rx8s , great cars for the money . Try to get the full power version , 228bhp (six speed box is the big giveaway between the 2 versions) coils start to fail giving a slight hesitation at about 3-4000 revs , problem is they don't burn all the fuel so you get bore wash , thus the rotor tips wear , if the ad says new cat , that's one of the first signs of a drying motor as the unburnt fuel . Nip over to eBay.com and get them there ,

also get new leads and hotter plugs (£250-£300 all in) , Rusty sills where doors meet , water in tail lights (drill couple of small holes on them) replace gearbox oil with a fully synthetic type (cures the slight notchyness) buy before 2006 as the road tax is a lot cheaper . Yes they are thirsty with fuel and oil , but its a small price to pay for a cheap car that's easy on the eye and very easy to work on :-)
