Is Retrofitting Intelligent High Beam Possible?

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for information about fitting an 'intelligent high beam' kit to my LS430. It allows for automatic dipping of headlights when meeting or following traffic.

Apparently it's possible with BMWs, where they call it 'high beam assist/ant'. So, why not also on a Lexus.

Is there anyone here who knows how to go about this?

I don't know if that's possible or not, what I do know is that after reading a recent post about changing bulbs for LED's causing major problems, I would be very wary about even considering adding anything on to what is already a very, very complex electrical system, especially on the LS430. I may be wrong of course.

Hi Eff

As Phil states with reference to non oem parts that were fitted to another members car and caused that system to fail the electrical system on the Lexus is designed to protect the parts it serves.

To that end fitting anything that the system is not designed to serve will probably cause indeterminable problems that will inevitably cost you time and money to fix.

Lexus engineers design each car within paremeters of technology around at the time and sufficient to add there own tested accessories, as the particular system you refer to had not been around during the development of the LS430 which was launched in 2000 so research and development came around 97 and was just a tweak of the ls400 system it is unlikely that this auto dipping system could be safely integrated bearing in mind the dangers to other motorists this could cause if not working properly hence my refferal to lots of aggro.
