Does anyone know of a Lexus trained mechanic in the Leicester area that can service my LS430 ?

Just phoned Lexus for a quote for a full service, (not including plugs) and was quoted £600

My local garage are prepared to do it for £230 !

Quite a difference.

I don't get this, according to the Lexus website the interim and major services for older models should be fixed at £199/399 so why has Leicester quoted £600.00?

Timing belt replacement is quoted at £395.00.

The services which are quoted on the website relate to the essential service. The Glasgow dealership advised me that their services covered other items which were not covered as part of the essential service, however when i questioned them to confirm exactly what was not covered they were struggling to answer me and said Battery for key fob (£2 from amazon) and coolant replacement which they quoted £180 for (very much doubt that). That was about it for a difference in price over 3 years of about £530.

Best to sign up to the essential service and then add on any other bits you feel are necessary.

Thanks guys.

Took your advice Stuart & phoned a Toyota garage, as soon as I mentioned the car runs on LPG they refused to consider it.

Their prices by the way were £230 to £340 without plug replacement.

Bummer. Looks like a good Indy is the way forward.

I have been around a long time, in my opinion a good Indy is always going to be better. Main dealer service is for someone on warranty or who has more money than sense.

With the possible exception of tasks needing special tools, a good Indy can do anything the main dealer can,

for a third of the price.

Members on here must have knowledge of such an Indy in your general area. William

You're right Stuart, I'm going with my local garage that I have used for the past 16 years.

The only reason I looked elsewhere is because they told me they had never serviced an LS430 before, but one did say, " there's nothing you can't find on the web these days "

It wasn't too long ago I sent wiring diagrams to another LOC member so she could give them to her local independant garage to assist with fault finding and they sorted it.

I feel I am competent enough to service and repair (rarely) my own car but wouldn't consider anyone elses car.
