Hi,

I have a 2008 RX400h and have owned it for about 4 months with no issues. It passed its MOT 5 days ago.

Today when I went to move it after it had been standing for about 4 hours I turned the key to the ACC position and all the usual lights came on but when i turned to ON the Ready light did not illuminate and couldnt start it.

I turned it off and tried again and it the ready light then came on and started. However I have tried it a few times since and if I leave the key in the ACC position briefly before going to the ON position the 'Check VSC System' light briefly comes on before going out and the Ready light coming on when the car will then start and run normally.

However if I turn the key straight to the ON position without pausing at ACC there is no VSC warning and the ready light comes on straight away!

The VSC warning literally just flashes on, beeps and then goes off again.

Could the MOT testing have done anything that might have caused this?

Any advice would be appreciated

Thanks

  • 3 weeks later...

Hi there,

It happened to me 2 weeks after buying the car in 2012 - this is typically what happens when the 12V Battery starts to play up: for some weird reason, it triggers the VSC alert (Vehicle Stability Control) Don't worry about the actual alert...

I got Lexus to change it under warranty in December and 6 months later, it's back at it.

I'm getting the AA trickle charger today but tempted to go back to Lexus and tell them to change it again under the Battery warranty...

It is entirely possible the MoT tester had the car sitting with the ign on but engine off and drained the 12v Battery quite low, so could be related, as above try giving the 12v batt a good overnight or 24hr charge before anything else.
