How Often Should I Drive My Is?

Recommended Posts

So, I recently changed jobs and now sit in about 40 mins of traffic every day. I decided I do not want my Lexus to be tortured in that kind of traffic, so I decided to buy a little runabout car to use to work and back. I plan on only taking the Lexus out for a spin on the weekends.

My question is, how often should I be taking it out for a spin? Aside from the obvious Battery issues, I"m concerned about mechanical issues. Any advice would be appreciated.

My IS is a 2000 model with 94000kms (about 58000 miles) on the odometer.

I assume you use it on weekends? I don't drive mine in the week. Main thing is to do a decent drive of 30 minutes plus every 2-3 weeks to give the Battery a chance to charge. Won't do any mechanical damage leaving it for a couple of weeks at a time.

Thanks for the response, Stuart.

Well, I only started using the new car this week....so its been parked off in my garage since Sunday. Yes, I do intend to use it only on weekends. Was considering driving it to work on Fridays.....just to give it a bit of a leg-stretch.

It won't do it any harm sitting in traffic but I can understand where you are coming from. Personally if use it and enjoy it :)
