  1. Ok a bit random this but I simply had to tell you, just completed a 10 hour round trip from Dundee to Stranraer on a freezing cold night in a cosy 20 year old Lexus with Simply Red and Bruce Springsteen keeping me company ....Never missed a beat and averaged 25mpg overall with a mix of motorway and A road miles...I have driven some classy cars in my time but this car especially considering how much/little it cost me never fails to put a smile on my face every time I take it on a road trip. I'm now safely back home sitting in my comfy chair with a large glass of wine looking out the window at her and thinking maybe I'm falling in love again!!

  2. Looking for a set of the 17" multispokes with tyres, I bought the car with badly corroded alloys. Anyone know where I could get some?

  3. Saw my 11th IS-F on the road yesterday, don't know why they are so common for me and others don't see any?!?! Anyway this spotting was not so nice, came along the A406 about 7:15am to see blues flashing on the slip road, as I got closer I saw that it was a silver IS-F that looked as if it had gone sideways into the wall of the slip road, past by quite quick so didn't see much, but driver was out and safe and getting a ticking off by the looks. Suffice to say I was overly careful the rest of my journey!

  5. most suffer cooling problems. same issue I had with my 520i and that was the 2.2litre 6 cylinder. had to replace rad, few weeks later head gasket, few months later water pump. and eventually got rid as I wasn't enjoying driving it with cooling parts failing. so long as you replace the coolingparts which are notorious to fail then you wont have any issues or more buy with warranty or get like an RAC breakdown and repair warranty. http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=914109 if its power you want then get a 3.0 Audi A4 if you want German or IS300 if you want Japanese.. as those are quite close to the 330 in performance terms IS300 more reliable mechanically.

  7. I Know this is small comfort to anyone who as had this done but it means that you are succesful in life and the person who did this has a sad one. I never leave my car in a vunerable place and never park next to any cay more than a year old I am more able to do this these days as I only use the Lexus occasionly and I am very selective were I go in it. This is not practible for everyone I know but using this care I have had no damage to my two Lexus in seventeen years.

  10. Well guys, I went down there, spoke to the trader and asked how come the car has the mk4 front end, his reply because it is a mk4, I said no it isn't, it's a 1996 model , it's got the front end from the 1998-2000 model, he then said I know about the ls400 as I've had so many and this car looks right, my reply was no it doesn't, something doesn't add up, his reply was I don't know then, I asked to see the v5, he said he doesn't have it, I said I'll leave it then. So there you have it.

  12. It's a fantastic looking car Chris, the 300 is destined to become a classic in the not too distant future, the shape and lines are mouth watering. I love the stereo with all those functions and I would be very tempted to put exactly the same bit of kit in my own IS300 but sadly it has to go to make way for my new car which arrives at the end of the month. My wife says she has to go (the car Lexus that is!). As for the economy, I never expected anything out of this world when I purchased it, I just enjoy the extra power that's on tap whenever it is needed, so smooth and quiet. In all the years i have owned it can you believe I have never used the sport mode on the autobox or the manual option with the buttons on the steering wheel, I think they have a technical name for it...... Anyway Chris I hope you get as much enjoyment out of your 300 as I have had Ian

  13. Some positive news on this. So the extended warranty re-confirmed they wouldnt cover the DPF. My local Lexus Garage (Stoke-on-Trent) acted on my behalf escalating this within Lexus GB as I had pointed out that this was probably one of the issues caused by the old engine (sooted up). Anyway, had to wait over Xmas for a response but car went back in yesterday - they had no luck getting it replaced under the warranty so Lexus GB provided the part free of charge as goodwill gesture considering all the problems I have had and the fact I had consisnetly purchased extended warranties. Lexus Stoke then fitted the new DPF for free. I have to say, one of the joys IMO with the brand is the customer services.
