  1. I came from a BMW audio system and let me tell you the Mark Levinson is just awesome.I love it.Interesting to read everyone's comments, I recently bought a 430 and the car had such provenance with service history it's ridiculous.10 service stamps by Lexus every mot and a wad of bills amassing 10k.So as some have stated if these cars are well looked after they will look after you.As I have stated on another post I have booked mine into the paint shop to make it as good as as I can, the point I'm making as long as the history is good cosmetics can easily be sorted out.The Ls is a beautiful ride..but don't get taken for a ride without the necessary history.

  8. It all depends on what you want really. The V6 is smooth and makes a great noise on the F Sport. The 300h feels sterile in comparison and it feels slow despite having better in gear acceleration. The 6 Speed Auto is from the Toyota GT86 apparently, so its pretty nice too. Carmagazine also rated the IS250 F Sport higher than the IS300h F Sport saying its more fun to drive. Very fair review in my opinion. If you are a private buyer, id say stick to the IS250. Its slightly faster and loves to rev its guts out! Definitely walk out of the showroom if they're unwilling to give you atleast a £3k discount on these models. I calculated that with my wife's 3k a year mileage, itd take atleast 8 years to get the extra £3k from the premium of the IS300h. And discounts will be greater on the IS250 as they want to get rid of them. Overall, there is literally no difference in residuals for the the hybrid or non hybrid versions. Look at the GS250, you can buy it for £22k. But then, you can also buy the same aged GS450h for £32k. I have driven both the IS250 and IS300h and I would choose the iS250 F Sport every time. Its got more character. Im not really a fan of CVT's and four pot engines, I prefer V6's with a CVT like the RX450h or GS450h

  9. The pink coolant was used in all new toyota/lexus 2004 or later model year cars, and is good for 5 years at least, and 10 for the first fill. In short, if you have an IS250, it will be intended to have pink. The lexus service manual does not recommend flushing for normal maintenance, because flushing will dilute the pre-diluted coolant. If you use a concentrated coolant, then it doesn't matter if you flush and leave water behind - you add the correct amount of concentrate, then top up with water. The pink coolant is a vivid "hot pink" colour. There is no aftermarket coolant with a similar colour - they are all red, red-orange or deep purple. If you shine a torch on the coolant expansion tank, you will see the colour clearly. In general flushing is only needed if you have a corrosion problem, and the cooling system is full of crud. The pink stuff is really good at preventing corrosion, so I would be rather surprised if a 2006 model had a genuine need for flushing. The lexus recommended maintenance is draining the coolant and refilling without a flush. Ideally, you should drain the whole radiator and engine. The radiator drain is easy. The 2 engine drains are difficult to find. (One is behind the alternator, the other is behind the dipstick) If the coolant has been changed, then you may as well just flush it - you can then, either flush with pink, then drain and refill with pink (very expensive, as it is nearly £10 per liter for pink). Or flush out with water and use a generic coolant that is similar to toyota/lexus specifications and just change it regularly (perhaps every 3 years instead of every 5). Annoyingly, there is no generic or 3rd party coolant on the UK market that has similar specifications to toyota pink. Cheaper options are the use of toyota red coolant, or a generic OAT coolant (a "G30" formulation is probably better), but note that the reason toyota switched to a their formulation was that their red was designed for 5 year changes, but didn't work quite as well as they had hoped.

  10. This could be the back plate rubbing on the discs. I had this on mine when I changed the discs, only when turning and you will only hear it at low speeds. The plates usually need cleaning to stop the scrape.
