  1. Hi everyone, Finally picked up my new "baby" at the weekend and I'm loving it. I love the colour combination and everyone that sees it has commented on the colour and the great look of the car. I must say the handover at Lexus Coventry was great. The car was in its own handover showroom with a black drape over the car when we arrived. My son videoed the unvailing as the salesman pulled the cover off the car - quite dramatic! I was then shown over the car and talked through all the features and finally when I was happy and understood where most things were I drove the car out of the showroom. The only downside to the day was the weather! I've only put about 100 miles on the car so far and still haven't tried out all the "toys" but will do so over the coming days/weeks for sure but my initial feelings are the car is very nice indeed - the car handles well, is very comfortable and quiet and the ML stereo sounds epic (to my ears anyway). I'm very happy with my purchase. I know MPH is important (although it wasn't my main reason for buying the NX) and at the moment since picking the car up I'm getting around 34mpg but it is early days of course. I will be taking the car over the Xmas holidays to North Wales and will have a better idea how it handles longer trips then. I will give a more indepth review once I've put a few more miles on the car but for now Christmas has come early! :hohoho:

  3. In my experience, any suspension knock which doesn't seem to have a source usually turns out to be a top strut mount. They're pretty much impossible to test without taking them off and of course if you're paying someone to do the work it's going to be a few hours of labour.

  4. The current model RX450H came out in 2012. Therefore, you'd be financially better off getting an early 201 or 2013 model rather than a 2014/15 model. There's not much difference between them. They are pretty bulletproof in all honesty no major problems. I prefer having service done at the dealer but it's personal preference However Im struggling to see any cars in your budget which are 2014/15 reg with the mileage you want on the Lexus website. I wouldn't buy one of these from anyone but a Lexus dealer though unless you know what you're looking for. And yes Im going to buy the new RX which is coming in January. Bear that in mind as it'll have a bigger impact on the more expensive current shape RX450Hs http://usedcars.lexus.co.uk/used-RX/RX-450h/3.5-Advance/Leicester/3266466-605354536-1609628.aspx?srcmdc=se_na_re_ http://usedcars.lexus.co.uk/used-RX/RX-450h/3.5-Advance/Derby/3266466-605320898-1913663.aspx?srcmdc=se_na_re_ http://usedcars.lexus.co.uk/used-RX/RX-450h/3.5-Luxury/Coventry/3427895-605406992-1607078.aspx?srcmdc=se_na_re_ Quite a few on Lexus website albeit slightly older than what you're wanting but I'd rather the piece of mind especially with the hybrids. They'll be under full warranty for atleast a year. Independent dealers warranty doesn't cover hybrid parts

  5. Hi Wil Welcome, It would seem the motors that unlatch the top from the front screen assembly aren't operating or aren't moving far enough to disengage one or both latches. So my first thoughts are that it could be the latches or their unlocking actuators are stuck or that a sensor permitting their action in the opening sequence has failed. I did a quick search in the usual fashion and could only find one vaguely similar instance but no solution followed. Will dig a little more and let you know if I find anything. A few questions for starters. Did the roof work when you bought the car? Is the battery fully charged and the car running when you operate the roof? When the roof doesn't open, it should produce an error code. Has a diagnostic test actually been done on it by Lexus or with a proper scan-tool whilst the roof was in operation? (Info I've read suggests the codes aren't 'stored' so needs to be read whilst the roof is attempting to open.) Did the dealer attempt to reset the roof ECU by disconnecting the battery? (that would be my first move) Does the roof open/close switch flash red when the roof stops in its cycle? And finally if when the roof opening stalls and doesn't unlatch if you operate the button to close it momentarily and then try to open it again, does that free the latches at all? (It did in the other case I've read)

  6. Hi Jeff and welcome to the LOC, we are a friendly bunch and some of us even know how to pull them to bits and put them back together again, with of course the one bolt and washer left over. We recommend you spend a couple of mins looking over the rules of the LOC, we will be asking questions later. http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/terms-conditions/ Please note to sell on the LOC you need to be a Gold member. Regards Mike.

  9. oh stop moaning, you live in one of the most amazing parts of the world I've ever been to. I suspect if you drive for a few hours in the right direction this is what you get treated too... If I drive for 1 hour, this is what I get to see, I don't think any amount of christmas cheer can make anyone smile when they are greeted with such a unique sight :)

  10. Had the car inspected by Lexus, the noise from the front end was in fact the brake pads - they cleaned the brakes and applied copper grease to all the pads on all corners and now it's not as noisy as before. The TPMS wasn't faulty (oops! Sorry Lexus!!) turns out, there was a HUGE nail in the tyre which has not been rectified. As for the steaming, apparently there isn't anything wrong with the car. It's just 'one of those things' according to the Lexus mechanics - but hey ho! Never mind. There was a nice touch when the mechanic who worked on my car gave me a personal call and told me to contact him directly if I noticed anything else. So kudos for that Lexus. Oh and whilst I'm being thankful - I thoroughly appreciate the wash and vac. (I don't have much time to do this) As for the courtesy car. It was a IS300h SE-L Nav, and hands down, it was the worse IS300h I have ever driven/seen. It was on a 65 plate and the differences in comparison to mine were mind blowing. No leather heated & cooled memory seats. No auto-dimming rear view mirror. No auto-folding side mirrors. No electrically adjustable seats. No soft padding on the side of the centre console (I know this is minor but I'm so accustomed to resting my left knee against it in my car!) The sound system was abysmal. Oh and the worst thing? The manager from Lexus was most adamant that I was 'hearing things' and wouldn't accept that there could have been a slight issue with regards to the noise. She really did take an 'arsey' tone with me and i certainly was not impressed. Tut tut Lexus.

  11. I think it pays to have extended warranty. £495 over 10 months for 2 years piece of mind. This also includes 2 years Lexus assist.

  12. I have the same problem and went to garage. They put the car on MOT shaking plate machine. They could not recreate the noise or find any problems. My problem is exactly like the original poster post. It is knocking sound coming from front suspension. It makes noise when you pull away in first gear or at low speed (<20mph). Also happens when going over speed bump etc. It doesn't affect car stability or handling in any shape or form. At the high speed the noise doesn't not exist. Anyone who replaced top strut mount fixed the issue? or any other suggestion from experience lexus owners please.... :( This noise is driving me insane. By the way, I replaced the front anti roll bar bushes about 4 weeks ago, it fixes the squeaking noise when going over bumps. Now this is the different noise. Can these be related?

  13. I had a sound from Front N/S and it was driving me crazy - took it to everyone and anyone I could find apart from main dealer. National in Enfield recommended I change the shock absorber straight off the bat, as did Albin Motors in SE26 because it seemed as if it was coated in oil and therefore potentially a burst seal. However in the early stages it provided good damping and the bounce test was not conclusive and therefore I was hesitant to change a part what I knew was not going to be a cheap job (Albin quoted £323 each side). I left and the noise eventually got worse and then did the bounce test again some three weeks later and the Front N/S was like a trampoline - problem solved. All other parts were fine. Replaced the shock - part from Lexus Hatfield and fitted by Motor Masters at High Rod, Ilford IG3 and it solved the problem immediately - no more knocking!!! Oh yeah they all recommended doing x2 and I told them to rod off! Motor Masters did not however? I have had no issues with changing only one shock - no need for anyone to reply with tsk tsk - I don't give a :tsktsk: . They charged me £50 for fitting a shock absorber! And they did it while I waited. Outstanding service and I would recommend if you can to take it to them for fault finding too if you ever come near the London area. It was the first time I used them and I felt they were friendly, welcoming and incredibly knowledgeable. They even re-build engines, anyway had a good old chinwag with one of the owners (Hamal)! Anyhow - hopefully I haven't been teaching you to suck eggs - but if none of the parts are showing excessive wear then the only thing really for it is either to let the problem get worse so potentially an at fault part will stand out on inspection or start replacing some of the cheaper less expensive parts. I know you said you had some of the bushings done - but I suspect a lot of issues on many cars' suspension is probably just a faulty drop link or anti roll bar. National in Enfield quoted me around £62 to replace one - but I reckon if you're handy you can buy the part and do it your self - probably both sides for sixty quid and there are loads of how to videos on the net/ youtube - I would have done this myself but I just don't have the tools....
