  1. Would love to make the meeting, but I have not really been making plans past a few days as my health has been so up and down since virtually the start of the year. Means being a bit more spontaneous than I usually am. So, may be closer to the time all being well I could make it. On a complete aside this might bring a smile to faces. An early birthday present from my brother.

  2. If you still want to try - £29.99 from here for IS250 2008 to update your sat dvd but will only bring you up to 2018. As Linas says you would be updating a very old system ...https://www.satnavishop.co.uk/toyota-39-c.asp (Toyota/Lexus Gen3/5) Better off putting the money towards android or a garmin etc imho.

  3. Blimey. GSF. I bought big 5yr warranty Yuasa silver one from my local store last August when I bought my 91 Ls400 ….. £166 Not much reduces in price but it’s now £133 👍 Might be a great time to buy your new battery Perry ! Malc

  4. Our 3 cars have Yuasa batteries. Never had a problem with them. Look on the GSF website for a 10% discount.

  5. I was interested in the extended warranty , but after phoning four Lexus dealers - three of which had no one available who knew about it - the fourth one advised that the Roadside assistance is no longer included. Apparently it was removed sometime last year. £546 without Roadside Assistance is not now such a bargain

  6. My recent’ish Varta experience isn’t good Yuasa have been brilliant but I always buy the highest quality, life etc Yuasa And I used to buy from the Toyota Main Dealer Spares Dept in times past where the pricing was very competitive But times change ! I’ve never bought a battery from Halfords Good luck Malc

  7. That shirt says it all. Even though I now drive a MB, my keys have the Lexus fob, just hard to let go of not owning a Lexus (at the mo)

  8. I found an image on eBay where someone is selling a used LS400 steering rack. The N/S (passenger) tie rod indeed does look a little longer than the O/S.

  9. You can always take out an independent warranty cover for peace of mind.

  10. I had 20 inchers on my 450h when I got it. Hideous ride. But looked the dogs danglies. Swapped them to original

  11. Because competitors quote ‘lite’ policies on comparison sites, NFU refuse to use them. I prefer the full cover provided by them e.g. new replacement car for 2 years for written off or stolen cars on a new car insured from day 1.

  12. Fair points. However, even now the Lexus dealers seem to struggle with diagnosing issues with the LC (due to its rarity). Imagine if a dealer has to do 10 hrs diagnosis whilst you’re paying the bill outside of warranty. Let’s take the gearbox as an example. It’s used in just the LC. Compare that to a ZF box.. if you have an issue with a ZF box, the chances are the issue will be very common and there’ll be lots of indies that can work on it. The LC gearbox on the other hand…….. The LC500 is my third Lexus. I’d put it’s build quality last. I think the rarity of the LC500 may make it an expensive long termer.

  14. After following the above instructions, big shout out to @SPC, it works! I also found that you don't actually need to do any modifications to the DSU, only the ECM. It just means for who ever tries to attempt this, it's one less step. The setup I have working is with a Radar and DSU that are both Japan spec, even though my car is EU spec. I am also using a newer DSU than the one which is spec'd for the car. I am using Part No. 88150-52053 instead of 88150-52052 (which I never could find anywhere). This confirms that, you can use a Radar and DSU which is a different spec from the rest of your car, the important thing is to keep the DSU and Radar the same region. This should be helpful for anyone who is trying to get parts but can't find them in their same region. I have found some of these parts are much cheaper in the US. I will keep testing it and report back if there are any issues or DTC's that come up, but so far it's been clean. I am also fairly certain that I need to get the radar re-calibrated/re-aimed, even though it seems to be working without it for now. I am also planning to do a full write up for whoever want's to attempt this in the future.

  15. Well... using your phone is not so much solution for outdated maps, it is kind of workaround. Also replacement unit not only resolves the map related issues, but as well improves phone integration overall. Besides I can see why people wouldn't want to get 6 points and £1000 fine just because based on some police officer discretion they glanced too much into their phone. Replacement unit is more of permanent solution (or longer term solution), that does not involve using your phone when driving.

  16. I agree with Linas's diagnosis, but not his prognosis. It's so much easier to use Gmaps on your phone than to replace the built-in system unit with a modern aftermarket one — which will run Gmaps

  17. Your car being 2008, it will have DVD based system. The disc is located behind hazard light switch, you can see video below on how to access it (if you wonder - yes, two pins are included in your toolbox). That said - updating maps makes no sense, Lexus Sat-Nav was not great even when it was new, now it is horribly outdated and I don't believe latest maps are even available. You can probably get 2018 or 2020 DVD for something like £200, so all you achieving would be to replace 14 year old maps with 6 years old, still not something you can rely on when driving. Solution is to get aftermarket android system, which will have google maps, or even better android auto/crapple carplay and would run circles around outdated sat-nav in the car. The systems starts from around £200. £300-£400 should get you decent one, but even cheapest ones are still many times better than what came out in 2008.

  18. Not the DB2, you would need to install one of the more expensive Insurance approved trackers which are listed on their site.

  19. It's easier and (for the most part) more reliable to use mapping on your phone. I have a Quadlock magnetic cradle on the lower right of the windscreen and it works well.

  23. Hahaha I’ve had a Mk2 too in times past If it’s sold then they used to say the engine etc was worth a few grand …… nope I’m settled now when I bought this Mk1 having been totally turned off by the impracticality of the Sc430 when someone outta the blue parked up outside and gave me an in depth appraisal of his new to him Sc430 …….. I think I told you all at that time 🤔 No space to store my sandwiches even for a picnic 😄 Malc
