  1. Shame - the wheels are worth big dollar on their own. The exhaust set up is also worth a few bob.
  2. If you found a Lexus SC owner I think it would go for a fair bit - the cars are silly money to start with. I think Aido asked at a dealer and they advised him that someone would pay £1k for it at the time. Worth asking for a quote as to what it's worth.
  3. I also work for a construction company (as a QS) we have to budget for a visit once a month from an external body to come and inspect the sites (although we have our own internal department) I used to work for Laing O'Rourke who wanted zero accidents, my argument was that you could educate people as to stupid things like hanging off of scaffold, etc but how are you going to stop a chippie hitting his thumb with a hammer? The world has gone H&S mad and it's all because of the American blame culture. One massive arse covering exercise. Who do you work for Nick? I work for ISG Dean and Bowes now (interior fit out, shopfit work with structural alterations etc).
  4. Do you have an older IS200? I was told they changed from a normal 6 point torx to the 5 point with a hole in the middle at a later date (baceause every man and his dog has torx bits now). The five point ones as i understand are only made by Toyota/Lexus. I tried phoning my local toyota dealership to borrow them - for cash - but they were having none of it
  5. Ignore Mr Padden - to the contrary I am not a mechanical numpty - I have been tinkering with engines on the farm since I have been little. Next project is a complete strip down of our Land Rover Defender (when I have finished shooting for the season). In all honesty though the s/c fitting isn't that much hassle - it's just a matter of following the process. I'm going to have a fiddle with the bypass valve on the charger and see what that brings.
  6. A 5 point security tool to get at the ECU which are a complete PITA to get hold of - there are ways round this though :winky:
  7. I think it is just loud because of the induction kit mate - Lee or Kaz will be able to answer the loudness question as they both have the TTE air box. I decided my life wouldn't be complete without the induction kit after I heard it on Aido's TBH I haven't fitted the fanimold yet as the bolts were welded to buggary underneath - It is a 1/2 hour job when I can be bothered - just need to get the car over the pit down the farm. Not necessary but helps air flow.
  8. Pray tell on the ************ MSN is loud_quiksilver@hotmail.com :winky: Were due to come over in August but didn't in the end fella - thought i'd explained? :duh: Obviously not - memory like a sieve
  9. Yes I did get them on fella... The charger is pretty much plug and play - a little modification required to one of the bars on a cooling fan, the under-tray and a couple of bumper clips need snipping but it's nothing anyone would notice when the car goes back to standard. Took about 6 hours in all - but 50% of that was the learning curve - could do another one no probs - have the know how now :winky: @ Kaz - not as quick as i remembered but it is definatley quicker - all pipes and clips are tight so not too sure if i am losing bosst or what - flies like the wind anyway so not too bothered :D Can't get over everyone looking when I change gear - the induction certainly amplifies the sound - proper funny. @ Mike - soz for not saying owt fella but it all happened a bit quickly
  10. It is Pete's old one - which I got off of Gord - right deal at the right time and all that The modding needs to stop for a while - I need to save some money I have too many other hobbies - it's shooting season now so money goes on cartridges and shooting toys
  11. Well then chaps - some knew and some didn't, I like to keep these things quiet until they happen as my usual luck is to rave about something and then it doesn't materialise Fortunately this one did :D (Apologies for the gash pictures but they were taken with my phone as i forgot my camera ) Last weekend (combined with a weekend away walking ooop that there north) i picked up a little box of toys (which contained a TTE Supercharger, Greddy Catch can, Supercharger induction pipe and de-catted manifold) Thank you Mr Gord I set about the fitting process on Friday, off comes the bumper ... The actual process of fitting is very simple, it's just the time it takes to do stupid things like take threaded stud out of awkward locations and fiddling the pipe through the engine bay and around pulleys and hosing. Supercharger cradle bolted in position - this alone took 3 attempts to get the studs done up in the right order, it is such a tight fit - get a bolt done up in the wrong order and another wont go in Supercharger on the cradle - this is after the aux pulled has been bolted to the main crank to run the little beast, add the belt and hey presto... Here is a view from the front, notice the throttle butterfly on the right hand side - the pipework runs from the bottom of the charger, underneath to the intercooler and the back up to be fed into the inlet. This pic is after the main pipework has been run through, notice the catch can is now in and also the induction pipe and HKS filter, throttle assembly for the charger is also in place and the throttle housing is now in.. Front view before the intercooler was fitted.. This is after the intercooler was fitted, holes were drilled and it was located.. The last op was re-fitting the front bumper (which was a royal pain in the arse). The smallest job was fitting the ecu extension. Thing is the ecu is put in with 5 star security screws (not 6's as everyone else uses and I had) I even phoned Toyota in St Ives to see if i could borrow theirs but the jobsworth planks wouldn't even let me have them - they told me they have to be kept under lock and key - lying bellends. I eventually got the studs out The car now flies although it doesn't seem as quick as i remember from Aido's?!! If I fitted another one i could do it in half the time but the first is always a learning curve.

  14. When the radar bounces back to the gatso it can tell how much has been scattered and how much is coming back, the more that comes back the larger the object. My uncle was done in an HGV for doing over 40mph on a single lane national speed limit road. Also - what Kremmen said is right - if you hurl through one on a dual carriageway over the limit but someone is beside you at the point you go through and is doing the correct speed it will get 2 different scatter patterns and will get confused, they ususally take the slower reading.
  15. What is the speed limit on the road? If you were following a bus then...... Public Goods Vehicles (PGV'S) anf Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGV's) are lited to 40mph on single carriagway national speed limit roads. If you were close behind a bus in this circumstance then this may explain the issue. What was the speed limit and what was the type of road? As for the previous comments - GPS or otherwise will be thrown out of the eqation if the capturing camera/device can be proved to be calobrated.
  16. Richard is one of the best things to happen to Top Gear in a long time. He brings some charisma to the show. I wish him all the best in the world, it won't be the same without him :(
  17. Man that place looks rough. Would love to come and experience it for the sheer hell of it one day though. :winky:
  18. I will need new pads on the front soon - the discs should be ok as the car has only done 45k. Dealer quoted me £240 to change the fronts - Consequently I told him no The £115 for the discs and pads for the front looks like a good deal though. I may get some of these bad boys.
  19. Sorry mate - that's me not reading properly The Kicker and infinity stuff is pricey but you get what you pay for. How about MTX or something similar?
  20. Actually you could be right - the lighting is all wrong on the last picture
