  1. Not quite sure where you get your Billion Dollar figure from? This was an out of court settlement prior to trial (as many of them are). If a billion dollars was being claimed then you can be damn sure that this would have gone all the way through the US court system up to US supreme court. This was a simple case settled at mediation (it never even made it into a court room). Toyota would have thrown some money at this (possibly seven figures to extinguish it). What will be more worrying for Toyota (and more rigourously defended) will be the class action that is currently out there at present.
  2. I'm sure there is some looney lefty law over here, or some daft petition by the tree hugging brigade that will jump up and down and say "It's bad for the environment and it will kill all the plankton in the seas and world will stop spinning on it's axis if you let your engine run without being in the car" I believe there is a nanny law over here that states you cannot leave your car unattended with the engine running. I don't agree with any of the above crap and if I want to start my car remotely to warm it up on cold winter mornings I should be afforded that option. The Ed You cannot leave it with the engine running on the highway but in your drive possibly. However if your car is stolen whilst standing with the engine running, your insurer might well refuse to pay out. Don't think there is anything in most policies about engine running? The usual criteria is car must be locked and keys not in the ignition, which using a remote start device would satisfy both conditions. If in doubt, sue the b*stards and they will pay up !!
  3. Do you use (or allow people to use) a pressure washer on your car by any chance?

  5. Yup - if you compare the price to a year or so, they are 'almost' good value for money . I think the generic ones that have appeared recently has driven down the price of OEM ones. (Plus production costs must have decreased now they have been around for 7 or 8 years.) One interesting fact - the dealers I have spoken to have never had to replace a TPMS due to battery failure (only mechanical failure due to breakage usually by trye fitters!). I believe they first appeared on Lexus in 2005/6 so the original ones are over 7 years old and still going strong.
  6. No they are not. They used to be but prices have come down more recently. Genuine Lexus ones (Made by Pacific) are £55 plus VAT and of course there are generic ones floating around now which work on 315Mhz and should be programmable via any dealer that has a decent TPMS Programmer. You will also need a TPMS seal kit for each sensor and these are around £6 or £7 each.
  7. Click the link in my post (the word 'these') and all will be revealed. I just can't decide though would I go for the Juke or not????
  8. Hmmmm..... £400k for that piece of junk (that isn't going to turn anybodies heads) or £189k for one of these. Now, I know where my £189k would go ! The Ed
  9. Phaeton????... It's a Passat with hand finished paint !! No no no its twice the size to start with. Mike Oh alright then.... It's a BIG Passat with hand finished paint, stainless steel boot hinges and an analogue clock.... with a second hand !
  10. Put the spare on - drive slowly! Drive as you would if you put a space saver on there. Get your faulty tyre repaired/replaced immediately.
  11. I thought remoulds were reserved use on taxis only !
  12. Orange is knackered at the moment. It doesn't work with the Lexus services. Lexus are aware of this (as are Orange) and alledgedly they are working on a fix. Don't hold your breath though. Probably easier and more reliable to get yourself on a different network. (The other networks are fine)
  13. No insurance will accept pre existing conditions! It's like having your house burgled and then saying "Oh, I'll take out some insurance now and claim on it" The Ed
  14. Ditto - Got mine in Walmart in the States $19.99 the set of four. Clear so shows the original colour through and sling them in the garage/boot for the summer months (What Summer :megaangry: ) The Ed
  15. It look as though it COULD be a Police Laser Jammer.... errrr... errrr... I mean an Infra Red Remote Garage Door Opener !! These usually have a VERY well consealed button inside the vehicle to enable or disable them...... Errr.... Allegedly ! The Ed
  16. Apart from the illegal number plate ... Looks good. (Did you black the tryes though - or just jetwash them?). Inside of the exhaust looks clean !! Hehe
  17. I'm waiting as well.....PM'd Steve on June 21st but as yet it's unread so I'm guessing he may be away on holiday? The Ed
  18. Errrrm... actually guys not wanting to burst your bubble of untrustworthyness but.... Rattlingstick Productions are quite a sizeable production house with offices on the East and West Coast of the USA as well as Germany, Brazil and Austrailia (not counting France and Spain cos they're not real countries) :ooh-ducky: They have produced for the likes of Kaiser Chiefs, Elbow and Husky to name a few.... Not everyone is trying to nick your car !!!! The Ed P.S - No I do not work for them or have any affiliation with them.
  19. No - He is telling you a load of horse dung. If you had spun the rear wheels the most that would happed is your traction control light would blink but this does not need resetting. I don't want to worry you but he may be trying to mask a problem that is known about. Unfortunately it neccesitates a new ECU, two oxygen sensors and a Oil Change (I have no idea why the new oil is required but that is what is on the notice). The bad news is the total cost is circa £2,500. There have been instances where owners have been told what their bill will be and then decided not to keep the car ! If he has just reset the light, I fear it will return again shortly ! I hope for your sake it is not the dreaded ECU problem. Best of luck The Ed
  20. Wingmirror market look to be arounf 13 quid for an replacement RX glass but I doudt for that price it will include the heating element (you would have to check with them).
