  1. could be an option to look at direct line insurance regarding the no claims stuff. If you become a names driver with them, you also build up no claims, which can then be transferred over when you decide to take out your own policy. Thats what i did. only drawback is that i am pretty sure that the transfering of the no claims can only be done to another Direct Line policy. Edit- just had a look and its only applicable if you transfer over to your own Direct Line policy.
  2. my friend has a new Gti with the DSG gearbox and i must say it is fantastic.
  3. agreed, and even if they dont do well, you just know they will sell like hotcakes in the US.
  4. Thankyou guys! 23......im getting on now! ill soon be moving up to the GS and LS' :D
  5. not bad, i think i paid £67 per corner from camskill.
  6. A slightly different, but similar story i have to tell here and was wondering what your guys opinions of this are. We have a local police station which has 2 officers based there, known around the village as good cop bad cop, one being a very nice chap, the other a complete arse (ill let you guess who is who) My mum is a part time courier and delivers around our local area. A month or so ago, she didnt have her car so had to borrow my dads to deliver a few parcels in. Bad cop pulled her over and was quite rude to her, saying that she didnt have business insurance on the car etc. Fair enough, my mum held her hands up....nothing more came of it. Anyway a couple of weeks later, she was heading down to my nans house (again in my dads car), she had missed a parcel so was dropping it off on the way down. Guess what, bad cop saw her....he pulled her over again, and was even more rude, telling her that it was her final warning, and that she had to provde proof of business insurance or risk being prosecuted. The way he spoke to my mum reduced her to tears when she got home. Myself and my dad obviously fuming...anyway we let it go and did what we need to do... Now (to the good part), just last week i was driving to my nans and who do i see? bad cop in his police car dropping his kid off at school. I whipped out my camera phone and took a snap. NOw im hazarding a guess that he will not be allowed to use his squad car for personal use! im saving the pic for future reference, if need be!
  7. nothing to report B) Just had my MOT today on my IS and it passed with not even a minor issue to report. chuffed to bits!
  8. NOt sure how old your cars are, but it may well be worth considering having your waterpumps done whilst your having to cambelts replaced instead of having to pay the labour costs again when your waterpump does eventually go.
  9. i had my 120k done recently, which is the same service as the 60k, paid about £320 in total, this was done at a local dealer though rather than a dealer
  10. i wonder if they will ever do a cabriolet version?
  11. Thats what i was hoping to hear, but wasnt sure! Cheers Simon, which variant of the IS220d do you have? Seems like a good deal you got there Matt, all the works for the price of a Mondeo! For me the fuel consumption isnt really THAT much of a problem as i dont really do that many miles, but like you say the generally lower running costs of the diesel is appealing. im not neccessarily 'power hungry' either as i prerfer to 'waft' from A to B , so the diesel does seem the sensible choice.
  12. Hi all, think its my first post in the second gen IS section. Anyway on with my point..... I’m having muchos debate with myself as to what car to get next, if to leave Lexus or not?, im looking to change maybe end of October time or latest would be early in the new year. Having had a snoop round my local dealer at the weekend, i was looking at the IS250 and IS200d and i do really like them, its the first time ive had a real close look at them, they had a nice red ISF in too.... If i decide to go the Lexus way again, my heart is saying IS250 and my head is saying the IS22d!, i would probabally be looking at the SE spec, or a standard with MM. Ive been toying with the idea of getting a car on personal contract hire instead of buying the car like i did with my current IS. Im not really fussed either way about owning my car if you get me and like the idea that it would give me greater flexibility to change on a more regular basis, unlike if i was to buy one myself, in which case i would be looking at a second hand one and taking out a small finance package anyway. (im still not getting the point here! i will stop waffling) So....(to the point) as i have no experience with personal contract hire, i was wondering is there any room for negotiations between myself and the dealer like there would be if i was buying the car, so that you can bring the monthly payments down? i'm not sure if there would be or not, with you only essentially hiring the car. Im in the position to get a car now if i wanted, but being sensible i would rather get my summer vacations out of the way and bide my time rather than rush into anything and get something i really want and at the best deal possible, so any advice would be much appreciated.
  13. Had a look at the IS-F they had in Lexus Sheffield today. Thought the exterior looked fab in the Aztec Fire colour (not sure when the new name for that colour is). There doesnt seem to be much change on the interior. I must admit and its only my personal opinion, if i was spending £50k on a car i would want a bit more drama.....each to there own though
  14. firefox over IE anyday for me, although i use Safari at home on the mac, which is just as good.
  15. seems to be a regular problem with the sky+ boxes, although i think i read that they have recently updated them? call up sky and tell them, were on about our 4th or 5th box. They will be cheeky and try and charge you, just refuse, theyll come and replace it for free
  16. out of interest, how did you get the vids to play on your tv, this may be the thing that enables me to pursuade my dad that Sky HD is a MUST for the new football season
  17. the rule a while back was anything 40" plus go for plasma, anything below go for LCD, however i think over the past year or two both have been improved substantially so it doesnt matter which you opt for. We have 2 Samsung LCD's and 1 Toshiba plasma in our house and all all have been great.
  18. I think, although not 100% sure, that you can only downgrade after 6 months now
  19. I agree with Aido, my last 4 years worth of contracts have been SE S600i, K700, K750 and K850. Was a fan, but since i got my K850 in October i am now on my 4th, utter crap! i have lost faith
  20. http://www.o2.co.uk/iphone/paymonthly fairly well priced now. ill probs get one in Spetember when my renewal with o2 is due
  21. Good whenever i have used them. Think its Chris in the sevice department, jolly nice bloke
  22. I used a hair dryer to get mine off, heat up the glue and then wipe away tacky stuff with warm water
  23. i hear what your saying, however considering that it only cost slightly more than an ipod touch then i dont think its that bad tbh. of course it is expensive if you only want it as phone though. Actually, thinking about it would be nice if they just released a 'nano' like version with just phone features at a much reduced price.
