  1. Yes mate - the beep is telling you that it's trying to close the windows. And you don't sound like an idiot at all.
  2. Hi You don't say whether yours is a Mk2, but assuming it is. Pressing and holding the arm button will close all windows and sunroof, if they are open, and locks the car, sets the alarm. Pressing and holding the Unarm button will open windows and sunroof after the car unlocks. Second press of arm disables the internal sensors.
  3. I'm very interested in string theory - it's supposed to be the answer to all questions - just wish I understood it more. I really admire people that design micro-electronics too.
  4. Maybe mate - but the chavs and chavesses in their small pukey iccle motors are still as ferking stupid as they were 40 years ago
  5. But the thing is mate (and I forget the exact numbers) something like 10% of collisions at 30mph result in death and 90% at 40mph result in death. So doing 40 in a 30 is much more likely to hurt someone than doing (say) 90 on the motorway (especially as there are not people walking around on the pavements on a motorway)
  6. Go for a drive in London - wouldn't be without my auto box in traffic - in fact wouldn't be without it at all - I have just as much control as as manual - just gotta get used to how it works.
  7. IMHO - it's much better to have speed traps on local roads than on major raods - I wish there was one outside my kids' school
  8. You're prolly right mate, and it's not the sort of thing I normally do - but my kids go to the school and I just saw red.
  9. So I'm driving past my kids' school in the 20 mph zone, doing 20mph. Car full of chavs OVERTAKES me going up the hill. Got the red cloud, chased after then and pulled them over - politely enquired of the driver whether he's ferking insane or wot. He says he thought it was a dual carriageway because there are 3 humps across the road - thought the middle hump was in the overtaking lane. Just when you thought you'd heard everything.
  10. Hi - welcome to the club The GS-2 is pretty much bullet-proof. The most common (and pretty much only) problems are to do with wheel balancing causing steering wobble and warping of front discs, which causes shudder when braking. I have 170,000 miles on my GS-2 and it's perfect.
  11. the discs don't last very long on the GS, I've found
  12. Yeah - but that's the thing about odds - they're only mathematics! The fact is that even though there are over 14 million combinations, someone pretty much becomes a millionaire every week cos of the lottery and that someone could be you or I, and we both have the same chance of winning as anyone else. Having said that, I don't play mostly cos I forget to buy a ticket.
  13. Agreed mate - did you notice that the PM sat in one on Question Time the other night?
  14. I have the same problem with the sunroof - never been aboe to find a fix - just leave it open a little, like you say
  15. I have an Aeron chair - in fact I'm sitting on it now. I've had it over 10 years and it's still as good as new - it used to be called the "stealth bomber" of office chairs because of all the levers and stuff on it. They're a bit pricy new but if you can find a second hand one I'd recommend it.
  16. could well be a diode - you might wanna meter it and see if it's directional
  17. Mine just "pops" and doesn't open fully. You can adjust the springs inside if you want to, but I don't think you'll get it to open fully.
  18. you can get cheap solar panels in Halfords that will trickle charge your battery if it's left for a while - might be worth a look?
  19. I use it - it's the best one I've found so far
  20. Hackney's posh nowadays!! My dad had a chemist shop in Homerton High Street - I used to work there when I was a teenager = t'was a little different back then.
  21. you might be better off with a bolt-splitter mate
  22. his address is dann_blde@hotmail.com
  23. its got a really long extension cable :P ← I asked the seller that question and he replied with a load of pants about you ring BT and give them the registration number and then they connect you
  24. how can anyone seriously belive that they've got a BT phone line in a Car ffs
