  1. Hello and welcome, I too have a 1994 Toyota Celsior and in nearly four years of ownership have had no problems at all with it. You will find some minor specification differences from the LS400 but if you have any questions I am glad to help.
  2. Welcome to the LOC. Sounds like you have done your research and purchased an excellent LS. If I remember correctly any Lexus dealer should on production of the VIN and suitable ID be able to provide a print out of it's service history ( normally free of charge if you hint they may be performing future servicing). This of course will not help if servicing was done at an independent garage. You could also contact the DVLA ( for a fee) who will provide a list of previous registered keepers who may be able to fill the gaps. If you get the handbook for the car it states the service intervals and what should be done at each one. Friday is now less than 72 hours away lol Please post some pictures up when you get the time.
  3. What I was trying to say was the job is made easier with the modified tool but not impossible without. BTW just spent 5 days up your way with Scottish Hydro on the Isle of Mull, it would appear Oban is a main Lexus owners centre as saw 5 or 6 various models there perhaps one of them was yours?
  4. Hi, Check the part numbers from this link http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/ You say that you have 2 broken springs have the dampers ( shockers) gone as well?
  5. Hi Steve, Welcome to the LOC.( Well your 1st post anyway) You don't give the year of your LS but I think they are the same for all years. Below is a link showing the location of the EGR pipe and it's attachment. The top connection is fairly easy if a little resistricted for space at the rear of the plenum chamber but the B**tard is the bottom connection to the exhaust system as access to the fixing bolts is neigh on impossible without removing several components including I think the catalytic convertor without a "special" spanner. With this spanner I have been told by a Lexus dealer the job can be done within 30 mins but they wouldn't let me see it, it is I understand a reshaped ring spanner. As for the part required some people have sucessfully welded the old one up ( check your engine mounts as if worn they can cause the pipe to fracture) or on the link there are the part numbers including the required gaskets,I would imagine this is a dealer only part. Alternatively buy an import LS Celsior because they have no EGR systems to worry about as it is not required in the JDM. :D Anyway here's the link http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/p_E_1994_LEXU...AEPGK_2501.html
  6. Just because an engine bay is clean doesn't necessarily mean something is amiss, with the splashguard fitted and a quick wipe around they can look impressive.
  7. Hello, Welcome to the LOC. Have you done a search on the forum as this is one of the most common faults on the early LS400's follow the link below for the repair solution. http://www.lexusownersclub.co.uk/forum/ind...showtopic=63518
  8. You know when the weather's getting colder with the onset of winter when the LS400 dash problems reappears.
  9. That's nice! Showing pictures of my car I see you are in Nottingham would you like me to pop down the A610 and let you see it?lol
  10. Hi, It may be worth doing anyway http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/EFI/throttlebody.html Also try cleaning the Idle Control Valve
  11. yep .... had it out on the seat while sticking me head under the steering wheel Mike Might it be for the volume of the beep omitted by the smart-key system when you try to lock the key in the car? Could be correct there my 1994 LS400 has the same so could be a model carry over function
  12. Hi, Do you have the handbook as there is a specific method for checking the fluid level? On auto boxes the equivalent of the clutch is the Torque Convertor as ROYT says a fluid clutch in effect. Have a look at the link below. http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/p_U_1990_LEXU...EPGKA_3502.html
  13. Hi Rod, Q1 The name "FM band" is misleading, since one can transmit FM on any frequency. All of these bands mentioned are in the VHF band which extends from 30 MHz to 300 MHz. In some countries FM broadcast radio is referred to as "VHF", "UKW" (German "Ultrakurzwelle" — "Ultra Short Wave") or "УКВ" (Russian "Ультра Короткие Волны"). Q2 AM ( LW/MW) is not very good so stick to FM the "aerial" is integrated into the rear window demister element and there is an amplifier mounted in the boot for this system. Q3 The LS400 is so reliable that if serviced and driven correctly will never break down eliminating the need for an engine bay light. Q4 Is that the one where you have to keep the button pressed down on the remote? Q5 If you have a neighbour like that I would put the car straight into the garage so he cannot comment, you need to remember you have the Lexus he has the jealousy, seriously you will need a series 4 owner to help with the mystery box. Q6 You can get battery chargers that connect with the battery still connected have a look in Halfrauds then buy it cheaper online. Q7 You are talking about pulling the dash and centre console on a series 4 LS400 I wouldn't fancy doing that. and finally, After owning mine for over a year I spotted a black cylindrical plastic tube under the dash on the passenger side and with help from fellow members was told it was the "Flare Holder" mine is an import and a flare is a legal requirement in Japan should you break down. Anyway got to go now I'm missing Coronation Street PS post some pictures of your car up
  14. Hi and welcome to the LOC. I have never heard of that problem before but it will need sorting firstly from a safety point of view and secondly it will result in an MOT failure. Has the car been involved in an accident? as the seat belts have a pretensioner system using an explosive charge which once activated cannot be reset and the belts have to be replaced ( are the airbags original?). Obviously they can be bought at Lexus dealers but you need a large bank balance or either look on ebay for a breaker or contact Maurice ( username: benfur) on this forum who usually has some spares. This link may help you with checking/fitting http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/p_E_1996_LEXU...AEPGK_7104.html
  15. Hi Martin welcome to the LOC. Here is a link to a good resource website I don't know if these wheels are the same but if not do a search with the year and model on the site. http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/p_E_2000_LEXU...EAGKW_4103.html If I remember correctly the standard tyres were Dunlops D?8 maybe. I think the LS has a glove box CD multichanger so the ipod shouldn't be a problem.
  16. I was under the impression that the LS430 had the radio aerial integrated into the rear window demister and the stubby roof aerial was for the mobile phone. Mine is an import LS400 and has a similar system and there is an antenae amplifier mounted in the passenger side of the boot.
  17. The rear lights are the same as the indicators looks like it's been resprayed without being masked off!
  18. Hi, Sorry it doesn't sound good, any warning lights coming up?. Have you checked the fluid level using the correct proceedure and the colour ( should be cherry red) also sniff the fluid if it smells burnt it may indicate a brake band or clutch problem. Have a look for an auto transmission specialist in your area. You might want to post here as these guys are more into Soarers. A little more info on the engine size and year of the car will help with a reply www.soarercentral.com
  19. Hi, The link below gives the location of the various lock components which may help you locate the noise. http://www.toyodiy.com/parts/p_E_2001_LEXU...EAGKW_6706.html
