  1. It took me 10 years to get the NSX - and I love it!!! If you do get the Lambo in 10 years - hope it gives you as much pleasure as I get from the NSX. I do know one chap who has traded his NSX for a Lambo - he still loves the NSX though - says he loves the Lambo as it is brutal and generates lots of attention - but the NSX was the better car for driving on the road - you can see out and don't bake! ;)
  2. Well if you are fetching the Italian bull - I'll come in the NSX again - and watch out for you on the hard shoulder! :eyes:
  3. Predictable I know - but I've always loved them, and if only 1 car is allowed, it is the only Supercar that can be driven every day - reliable and (for a supercar) reletively practical.... New NSX-R
  4. Loz - I'm in Yorkshire too (North) - so if you are coming to the meet and I can get there.... we could convoy!!! Folks - I'll fetch the Lexus this time! :D Even though it will just blend in with the rest and be nothing special.......:(
  5. brn7y - I fly up next Thursday, staying at the Craighare - been told it is nice, then flying home Friday. Won't have the Lexus. :eyes:
  6. Chaps and Chapesses, As most of you are aware, Honda-R have been raising money for Macmillan Cancer Relief during the summer months. The largest 'event' was the Raffle. We have raised a fantastic amount of money for such a small club. But for some people, the generosity didn't end there!!! Some of the Raffle prize winners donated their prize straight back to the cause so we could offer them to the best offer. All proceeds are going to the Macmillan appeal. You can bid on an individual game or for the job lot - I shall see which option raises the most and then let the lucky 'winner/(s)' know. Games available: Red Faction Tekken Tag Tournament Crazy Taxi Ridge Racer V Grand Theft Auto III Also available Touring Red annodised and Carbo Fibre effect Aluminum Shift Knob, Brake Handle and Oil Cap - all boxed, never fitted. A genuine 'race-used' JDM spec HID headlight from James Kaye's car (BTCC - Production Car class) - autographed by the 2 Synchro Motorsport drivers. Passenger ride on track in one of the BAT cars (possibly Project Nutter) and a BAT Cap (BAT = Bookatrack. www.bookatrack.co.uk ) Hydra Flexi Blade (water remover for use on cars BAR Factory Tour - yes, BAR Formula 1 !!!! Friday morning, 20th September. Any offers?????
  7. Oh and while I'm having a gripe - the front end of my 'new' car is peppered with stone chips - I have NEVER had a car deteriorate so quickly - what do they paint them with? Watercolours??? My car has done just over 11k miles, I have protected it with a good quality wax, and I don't 'tear about' on roads with loose chippings. I don't have a gravel drive. Don't have bad roads where I live. Most of my drive to work is done at speeds under 60mph. Yet I am losing paint faster than rubber off the tyres!!!!
  8. I can't see that changing the gearbox oil would actually help - it is only the one gear...... when it happens, you wonder for a second if you have fully depressed the clutch, or changed too quickly before fully depressing the clutch...... If the 'repair' requires the services of a chipsaway type chap - recon they could also repair my car-park ding that I got when the car was less than a week old and Ford Grandad got jealous???
  9. Well - I want to give them a chance to rectify first.... problem being that I am flying to Aberdeen for next week's task - so I won't be able to get back to the dealer till the week after - but if they don't rectify - rest assured, I will spill all the beans - all over the place!!! TBH - no idea how they can repair my dash without a whole new replacement - it isn't a piece of trim, tis the soft feel part that is integral!
  10. Well - my very first ever brand new car - and I have more things I am dissatisfied with than either of the last two second hand cars I bought!!! When my car went in for it's first service I reported the faults for rectification under warrenty.... 1. Radio would not hold a station & RDS not working. 2. Rattle behind dash 3. Remote boot release failed 4. One of the rear seat belt clasps not working 5. Shift 'clonking' into 3rd gear - intermittant fault First - the car was booked in on the Friday and I arranged for collection/delivery from my office - so I drove to work, left my keys with security, and was in the office all day in ignorant bliss of what was happening. I rang at lunch time to remind them to get me the IS200 service book (my pack has the GS300 one instead! ) and was assured all was well. Come 5pm I ring teh dealer to find out if my car has come back yet - the woman on reception says they are busy and she will ring back. I wait 10 mins, no call - so I call security - the gate man then informs me that my car is still parked where I left it and has not moved all day. 5.30pm the Lexus dealer rings, admits he had it down as collection, but forgot - and when I didn't 'turn up' he had assumed I was too busy! So the service is rescheduled for the following Tuesday (meaning I am now at circa 10,800 miles) I am told that the faults have all been sorted except the stereo as they need to order me a new one. New one arrives and I am told it is a 30 min job, so if I can pop down in my lunch they will fit it. I arrive at 1 as arranged, 1.15 and still no-one has taken my keys. I remind them that I am in my lunch break and that I was promised it would take no more than 30mins...... I have a meeting at 2pm. They assure me no problem and take my keys. 2pm my keys are back (I need time travel to get back to work in time for the meeting! ) and I have no time to check anything. Next day I discover there is a small chip in the trim near the stereo (which incidentally looks slightly different from my original unit - my car is a 2002 car....:?:) and the rattle is MUCH worse. Where before it was there occasionally - it is now there all the time. Additionally the CD Player does not work - press load, watch it flashing Wait with the red light - it goes out, but the green light never comes on nor does it invite me to load. So - I now have a worse rattle than ever. A radio that works, but CD Player doesn't. A chip in the trim and it also no longer fits properly with one side being worse than the other. Not happy!!!!! Also very disappointed - I did expect better. :(
  11. Ahhh - you see I'm with Claire - I consider them part of the Club when they have paid the money to support the Club and become a member..... those that just register on the forum - just forum users! Having 1,000 users isn't 'that' impressive, could even have a few people who have a home alias and a work alias...... What is the number of real members??? Hopefully the take up is pretty high as I would hope most Lexus owners wouldn't baulk at the small annual fee - the club has plenty to offer and if people don't support it, how can they continue to provide such as these forums (someone has to pay for them!)
  12. All the best Zee - been nice getting to meet you and hope you do make it back to the occasional event. Good luck, hope you do well - as you say though, nothing ventured......... Sincerely hope it all goes to plan though - enjoy being young free and single too (must admit, that surprised me!) Take Care Sam
  13. 1,000 members????? Cripes - that is fantastic - bulging bank balance though! With that sort of take up - could afford to throw a Team Lexus Christmas party! :eyes:
  14. I also have an awful rattle since it was done - especially when in 2nd, 4th or 6th gear! :?: I had the occasional rattle from behind the radio before - now it is constant - really annoying. The mark isn't just a mark, it is a chunk out of the plastic - is it repairable, or a new dash?????
  15. My Lexus went to the dealer for its first service recently...... I also reported that the radio had very poor reception, and there was a rattle behind it. I was informed that the radio was faulty and they would replace it under warrenty. First thing I noticed, it looks a little different - surprised me as my car is a 2002 model, so wouldn't have though the stereo would have changed. Second thing noticed only a week later (as can only see from the passenger seat) was the centre console (soft plastic bit at the side of the stereo) has a 'chip' out of it - looks like damage from a screw driver or other sharp implement - will be taking the car back for them to look at!!
  16. Perhaps this is due to what is familiar??? I too test drove the Lexus and straight after it the Audi, but with a different result and opinion........ could it be that I am coming from driving Japanese cars, and you from driving German??? It is surprising how differently people can view things - I found the interior and build of the Audi disappointing and plasticy - you found it better than the Lexus..... so I can only assume it is due to my being more familiar with Japanese 'plastics' and you to the german 'plastics' ;)
  17. I have never been asked to pay anything for a courtesy car - not from Honda or Lexus dealers
  18. Cripes - my average is one driver, no luggage...... perhaps a laptop and a few extra CDs in the glovebox....... You carry passengers and luggage as average??? Heavy passengers too....... I didn't think the back seat was big enough for 3 people of those sort of dimensions (assuming the luggage isn't over 80kgs worth) Anyway - the car IMO is heavy - but that is just down to it being a family sized well equiped saloon - you cannot compare it with sports cars and the like. It being so heavy will contribute to it's less than great fuel economy and the less than sparkling performance - but that isn't what the car is about..... compared with the other 4 door saloons at it's price point - it is very very well equiped, well built, nicely trimmed - and a lovely car to cover lots of miles in. You cannot have everything and it strikes a very good balance.
  19. Meeeeow - now we know why he chose the cream interior!! :eyes:
  20. Steve - I was at JAE, that must be easier than Paypal! If peeps want to donate, they do so without badgering...... and those from here that did can smile sweetly. Must disappoint you though - the prize draw has been drawn (at the Charity event I was plugging and trying to get your Northern guys to attend) - the top prize winners have been notified, a few more to contact.... for full list go to the Honda-R forum and look in Announcements. Anyway - the day in Harrogate went very well - and it raised the profile of Honda cars with the classic car owners who were impressed with the display and what we were doing - loads of Scimitar owners and other classics came along to make donations too, which was very much appreciated. I must admit I was disappointed at JAE - I don't think any of the car clubs with the exception of T-Lexus came and bought any tickets, or made a donation....... one MR2 owner did - and he is now the proud winner of a very smart silver in-car fire extinguisher!
  21. Cruise control!!!!!!! More and more speed cameras yet Lexus think we only want this on autos - grief!!! Oh - and how about the option of a better engine, without having to hike cubes by 50% and again give-up the manual gearbox!
  22. Shame - seems you are the only F1 fan in Team Lexus - not a single offer!!! Perhaps that is why not many bothered with the raffle either...... :?: Ahhh well - we are doing well with the appeal still.
  23. BAR Factory Tour - places available !!! We are pleased to be able to offer some places on a tour of the BAR Formula 1 Factory, on the morning of Friday 20th September..... Anyone interested should email me with their 'bid' Basically we will hold a closed envelope auction where you get to submit your offer (which will be a donation to the Macmillan appeal) and the best offer gets to go on the tour! These tours are not cheap, and the money raised is going to a fantastic cause - place your bids! Sammy@honda-r.fsnet.co.uk
  24. When I first got my car - very slow and 380-400 max to a tank full (circa £44) Now with 10k miles covered, quite a bit quicker (though I would never call it a quick car - adequate) and I can get over 440 miles to a tank when travelling distance. Very nice car though - and doesn't attract attention, which makes a nice change for me! :eyes:
  25. :?: I thought the only difference was LSD (and about 100kgs) - am I wrong? Is the Sport indeed quicker??
