  1. I think we have a better chance of Lexus doing something if the letter (not email) comes officially from the Lexus Owners Club on letterheaded paper. My car was new this year - I also have many chips and I do not drive close to the vehicle in front! In fact where I live, there very rarely is a vehicle in front! :P
  2. Well - the karting yesterday..........fan-flipping-rainy-slidy-big-smiley-tastic! Very very wet - but lots of fun. Glad a few Lexus chaps could come and join the fun - sos for giving you such a whooping! :P Really really disappointed that I couldn't take my place out there - but glad everyone seemed to really enjoy it. Where is the next Karting event then? Somewhere midlands way to make it doable for all of us?????
  3. It sounds like the hot start problem that plagued the older Preludes and CRXs - from memory (Phil will know) I think replacing the ignitor cured it.
  4. My reason for choosing the SE over the sport was I don't feel a heavy car with only 150bhp needs LSD - I am an enthusiastic driver, but have never missed it. So the other differences being all cosmetic, and the projected resale after 3 years showing lowest depreciation on the SE (the Sport is worth more after 3 years, but not as much more as it cost) - for me, the SE took it. It was close though, but more because I always choose 'Sport' and like the rear tints. I don't like the stock spoiler on the sport though - so SE with nicer spoiler is to me more asthetically pleasing. You will enjoy whickever you choose though! Welcome to the enlightenment (we will forgive past BM ownership)
  5. Honda has hertage and has remaned true..... but stll not cool. TBH - we buy cars that are good - not cool - otherwse we'd be drvng that monstrocty the BWM one (Max or whatever.....) BTW - sos for typos three letters on my eyboard and the comma not worng!!
  6. Matt - you're back????? I thought I saw a post saying it was your last post????!?!?
  7. My avatar has gone - so you can't see my weekend car .... but she is beautiful!! :D
  8. With the cash you are spending, don't limit yourself to only looking at the sport.... SE or Sport both are almost identical - the only real difference is the LSD on the sport - but since the car isn't exactly 'hot' - the LSD is a bit overkill, and certainly I've never felt the need for an LSD on a car this heavy with only 150bhp. The LSD is also a heavy peice of kit, so the sport has a lower power to weight ratio than the SE. The only thing that I wish my SE had that the sport has - the tinted rear windows! :P As for reliability - the car is Japanese - you won't have a problem.... I had a few performance Fords - then I bought my first Japanese car .... never looked back! One of my cars is a '91 and went for an MOT last saturday - the tester informed me that he had never seen a car so clean underneath - he told me it was in better condition than a lot of 1 year old cars he gets in the garage!! A friend of mine has two Preludes - his wife's car has covered 260,000 miles, his has covered 120,000 miles - both going very strong, no reliability issues, and one of them does track days on a regular basis! I enjoyed my old RS Fords, but I love the Japanese cars much more - performance doesn't mean having to visit the garage every 4,000 miles, or wondering if the car will start, driveshaft pop out, electrics will fail... etc etc. I would guess the Lexus IS200 is just as reliable at 100,000 miles as it is at 10,000 miles!!! The only downside to high miles would be trim - some of it isn't high quality - but then you've been used to a Pug..... so comparitivly - a palace! :D
  9. BT are annoying - but NTL????? Known in all circles as the most frustrating, incompetant, bags of pooo ever in the world of telecommunications????? Don't do it Steve!!!
  10. Pahh - wussy circuit!!! Come watch the Karting event at Milton Keynes a week on Saturday........ 4 from the Lexus forum, meet 20 Honda-R racers.......
  11. Any more Lexus owners joined up????? Or are we catching you? Come on guys - everyone using this board should join up - it does not impact your machine's performance - costs you nothing, but perhaps help in the fight against this terrible disease!!!!
  12. Indoor or Outdoor track? Hills or flat??
  13. Are the choices mutually exclusive??? Should we set up a poll??? :P
  14. Most mornings currently I get in the car and there is condensation. However I just turn the blower to windscreen, up to max, aircon is automatically on at this, and rear screen heater on - clears very quickly. Misting goes almost immediately.
  15. Heehee - we may be a month or so behind..... but we have our lean mean R-machines........ think your lardy-arsed exec saloons can keep us at bay??? Tried to post the dynamic page with our stats .... won't let me. :(
  16. Hiya chaps - now I know that there is a Lexus team running with this - not sure of the current team stats and how long you have been running - but we started a team up 14th November - so we are a bit behind you..... but we are hoping to catch you up!!! Friendly inter-club rivalry an' all that - if you haven't signed up - I suggest you do!!!!
  17. Woohoo - should put up the value of my Insight - exempt from congestion charges..... :P
  18. I have avoided commenting on this, as personally I think discissing political issues on an internet forum (a car one at that) can be dangerous as the media lends itself to misunderstanding/misinterpretation.... Anyway - I think they deserve a rise. They work a 48 hour week, and shifts, unsociable hours..... starting pay is £17k rising to £21k. They are exposed to danger, and see a lot of upsetting things. It is a difficult job - I couldn't do it even if they were offering £50k a year! They are trained, skilled people - and they often suffer illnesses in later life due to smoke inhalation etc. £30k to me does not seem excessive, but not in one jump. Perhaps a plans should be put together to a) Allow overtime (currently not allowed) B) Increase their salary to a more appropriate level and contracted raises X amount above inflation for X number of years to bring them up to an agreed appropriate level. I don't think they should strike - many firemen don't agree with the strike, but this isn't something that has 'just' happened - they have been fighting for a rise to a decent level for years. I could reply to a few points regarding the politics quoted above, and the fact that there has been no more strikes during the Labour period than there were during the last Conservative period of power (less actually, but that is more to do with today being a different ethos to the '80s) - but comments on those will turn this into political debate and we don't want that. It isn't a simple debate - I support them, but not strikes. I do hope people also realise that the deaths that occured during the strike were deaths that would have occured had the firemen been on duty too. On average there are 3 deaths a day due to fire in the UK. As for arguing about others also being underpaid - that is just smokescreens and irrelevent IMO. 2 wrongs don't make a right etc. Also when comparing different vocations, you have to compare the whole package, including pension, insurance etc. Oh - and as for the army using the modern equipment, not as easy as it first looks - if they are not trained to use that equipment, they may be better working with the equipment they are more familiar with?
  19. Lol - A Partridge is tres funny..... but he must be doing well now to be in a Lexus!!! Someone already tried to rib me today - I replied - yeah - he's good isn't he, really funny! :P Thing is - he didn't kill the Probe - it was never alive!!! My money is on Silver IS200 SE
  20. I have used North Eastern Tyres in York (Clifton Moor) and they are very good. They can accomodate very lowered cars (my CRX) and cars that must have 4 Wheel laser and chassis alignment (which is what you need on the NSX every time you change tyres) To be honest - I would advise you get full chassis aligment done everytime you change a tyre on any RWD car!! The fact you have uneven tyre wear - I would go for the full aligment - will cost circa £70 but worth it.
  21. I know someone who also got done with this on the M62 going to work in the morning...... Fog lights on because it was raining When will people realise that Fog lights on in heavy rain simply means those behind are dazzled and cannot see if you brake! If meaning front fog lights (as opposed to driving lights) - I think these are a little less annoying, but to be honest, if the conditions are such that they are not required, but are on anyway .... I always assume it is Mr BMW or VW man on a mission to prove he could afford to spec his car up! Not being used as needed, being used 'cos he has paid for them!
  22. Never seen it myself - I bought my car brand new this year - came from Coventry dealer.... why no Lexus mag? Sounds like I'm not missing anything, but does this mean I miss all correspondence from Lexus?
  23. Tested an Ecoflow on a '91 Prelude - gained about 2 mpg more. Tested on an Insight - lost 7mpg. Was going to test on the IS200 (the engine is an older design than the Prelude - and fuel economy is woeful) - but can't figure how to get near anything to fit the darn thing!!!
  24. Errr - too hard.... For cruising and going to the theatre - Aston Martin DB7 For the fun of driving - NSX-R For the sheer outrageous style and grip - Zonda Plus I would like to use some of the spending money to build my own track so I could enjoy the cars properly. Perhaps a nice single seater track car too. Perhaps a F3 car - Honda powered obviously..... the F3 Honda cars have the 2.0 Prelude engine with Mugan intake - over 200bhp in something weighing around 450kg and sat 25mm to 40mm from the ground........ serious buzz!!!
