  1. I want somewhere to put my Garmin when i travel along the A9 to Inverness and not get caught by the speed-cameras. The sat-nav from my van has all the cameras on it. I dont want to put a sucker mount on the car and thought about a Brodic mount. Anyone got one?
  2. My original Bridgestones were always tram-lining and the car pulled to the left on breaking sometimes. Both fronts had bad inner wear after only 12K. So I replaced them with Toyos and the car is totally different. Smooth light steering, no tram-lining and a lot quieter.
  3. I prefer both, and had a sun/moon roof put on the IS200 and the 250. Its nice to have the extra light in the cab as well even on a dull day. Sometimes you just want a "tilt" not a full blown gale.
  4. Thanks for info. Which part of Shropshire are you in? Jim
  5. Well i had two TOYO TR 1's put on the front yesterday, and wow what a difference! No more "tram lining" no more veering into the kerb. Unbelievably smooth, bit more harsh on some bits of road, but didn't realise how bad the Bridgestones were. The garage put in 33psi as they said it wasnt worth ruining a luxury car with the harder ride that 36psi would bring. I've put them on 35 to see how it goes.
  6. Just to update:- car went for 20K service yesterday and they reckon both front are illegal, as they were worn on both inside and outside edges, Quick-Fit two weeks ago didnt say anything when they adjusted the tracking. I am thinking of putting Toyo Proxes T1-R on the front instead of the Bridgestones it came with. Any thoughts?
  7. Tracking was 1.5 degs out, which they said was not bad. But what does a WIM adjustment cost Chris roughly?
  8. Just noticed a little bit of wear on the insides of both front tyres, anyone else? I take it we haven't got the same probs as the IS 200. Done just 12k in two years.
  9. Just noticed a bit of corrosion on the fronts of mine this week-end. The wife usually does the wheels! Only done 12K in 2 years and i thought Lexus had cured this one, so will have to call the dealer and see what they offer. The rears are fine. Jim
  10. I tried a copy of a copy of the latest SatNav DVD in my car this morning and it got stuck in the unit. Kept trying to spit it out, but it wouldn't come. Quick trip over to Lexus Wolverhampton ( very nice people ) but they couldn't help as they had never had this problem before. Looked like a mega-bucks job. Drove home thinking how to explain to the wife, her costing £200 for a new rear tyre would be nothing compared to this. Tried my LOS Gold Members Card and managed to flip the rogue disc out, straight in the bin. Old one back in and we're all hunky dorey. Don't try it, its cheaper to buy an upgrade. Phew!!!!!!!
  11. If the scratch is down to the undercoat then nothing will touch it. Have tried a couple of so-called scratch removers and they only mention surface swirls. My wife finds just using a decent polish (Autoglym) is the best solution
  12. Oh well, my rougher, slower Sport only averages 30mpg. So go for the IS250 Sport Auto, and have the best of both worlds. :winky:
  13. Yes we found it handled better than any model we tested, in fact the first test drive of the new 250 lasted only an hour as we found the ride not up to the level of our IS200SE. We took the cars over known problem stretches of roads in and around Telford before we settled on the Sport. Some say the ride is hard, and yes it is compared to the IS200, but overall the bigger wheels and lowered suspension suit us better. IMHO.
  14. It has something to do with "futures markets", where people guess the price of a barrel for delivery in a months time. Unfortunately this seems to be that the futures markets are now dictating what it will cost. Someone (apart from the chancellor) is making a lot of money at out expense.
  15. I suppose the obvious difference is the lower CO2 emissions from the auto, hence less TAX. We tested about every combination possible before buying the 250 Sport, that was for the better road holding and we both prefer a manual box. You need to decide if you like auto or manual, a very personal choice. Have not noticed any high clutch travel on any i have driven.
  16. My favourite colour too And there's nothing wrong with hedges or trees - it keeps it in the shade
  17. The sport has "Cellensia" which is like suede, something like the centre part of the IS200SE seats. Yes i think you can now get an auto Sport IS250, i saw one on Lexus Stokes' web-site this week-end.
  18. Hi and welcome to the club. I would shop around for service prices if i were you, there are bound to be members in your part of the country who know of cheaper alternatives.
  19. We had 6 years of great motoring with the IS200 and it turned heads wherever it went, i think due to the Platinum Ice looking stunning. Now we have moved on, got a bit older and have had a year with the 250 Sport, it also turns heads, again the great looking Mesa red. But i dont compare the two models as they are totally different aminals. The IS200 alwasys felt short of power, the 250 doesn't. You pays your money etc. etc.
  20. Anyway i have seen 35mpg on a long run but are lucky to get 30mpg around the town, so wanted a diesel for econony.
  21. Doesn't really matter how good the MPG is on the IS220D, if you don't like the car. My wife and i had a Sport Diesel for a day and ended up with the petrol sport, that was before the tax went to £400, but its cheaper than renting Sky for a year. IMHO.
  22. Just had a look and it stays on all the time, only had the car a year and never noticed.
  23. I dont find it a very easy system to use, much prefer TomTom3 on my PDA in the van, still havent read all the instruction book after a year of owning it. It also has a habit of sending you down country lanes when logic says to stay on the main road. But the voice is so polite.......
