  1. If leather is top of your shopping list, then it has to be the SE or SE-L model, the Sport has Cellensia (sort of suede). We get about 30 mph around the town, 35 on a good run. The £400 tax is a kick in the teeth from Mr Browns gang of muggers! But its only money. Try as many models as poss, we took a year before deciding on a petrol Sport, didnt like the diesel or the auto, but there are many happy owners of those models in the club. 18" alloys on the lowered suspension look better than the 17s' INHO. And of course Mesa Red is the dogs ******** :winky:
  2. Wont your car have to be off the road all the time the tax-disc is away?
  3. "But the memory of Solsjkaers last sec goal in 99 will do me footy wise", and Charltons header in 68. Would be nice for the club as its the 50th anniversary of Munich.
  4. Thanks very much. Just celebrated today by ordering my new road fund licence for £400 (ouch!) so I'm off to the pub tonight. Let us know whenever you are coming over to Telford and we will have a meeting. The local Japanese car owners club has monthly meetings at Ironbridge on a Sunday afternoon so there might be an opportunity for a visit.
  5. Our IS250 Sport has just had its first service (6,600 miles) and I would recommend that you definitely have a test drive of all the IS250 and IS220 models before you decide. It took us a good 6 months to decide on the Sport version. It wasn't availabile initially when the IS250 came out and we took the first IS250 back to the showroom after only an hour's test drive because we didn't like the handling of it. We tried the IS250 automatic, but preferred a manual gearbox. We settled on a Sport because of the lowered suspension, wide tyres and all the goodies that you get as standard. We wanted to buy a diesel because of the economy and eventually managed to get one from our local dealer in Wolverhampton for a complete day, but after the day of struggling to get in the right gear at roundabouts, stalling it from take-off, we decided that the petrol was the way to go. The ride is quite firm but holds the road well. We have had no problems with our gearbox and it seems the petrol version does not suffer from the same rattles as the diesel. Good luck in your choice. Jim
  6. I'll be pleased to volunteer but i think you are a long way from Shropshire.
  7. Well if anyones near Shropshire, give me a call!
  8. Every year the nice people at Lexus Wolverhampton collect the car, do the service and leave me a litre bottle of engine oil, 2 plastic gloves and a paper funnel. My IS200 was 6 years old when we swapped it and it never used a drop of oil. So i have 6 bottles of oil in the garage and tomorrow when the 250 is serviced i will probably get another. Does it have a shelf life?
  9. Hi Typhoon strangely you're the second person to mention Mesa Red RXs' this week. Didn't know that was a colour they came in. Can't wait for the photos. Mine is due its first service tomorrow, i seem to be lucky in that i only have a little rattle when the sun-roof is open.
  10. I think its just common sense, don't thrash it or labour it in any gear. Remember how much you paid for it and how long you want to keep it!
  11. The Mesa red has to be seen to be believed. It sparkles in the right light. Heres mine ( i know its not an RX) on collection day, the garage were so impressed with the colour they put one in the showroom. And the GS looks just as impressive in Red. IMHO.
  12. TomTom GPS and Gamin GPS show about 10% slower than the speedo. In Shropshire we have speed check displays by the roadside and if i approach at even 1MPH over the speed limit i get the warning display flash, so i would say my speedo is very accurate. Or the speed checks have a wide tollerance.
  13. Dont know how long they will be there for Chris, suppose it depends on the weather. I will ask.
  14. They have a section of the carpark for themselves and they are meeting at the services on the M54 at about 08.30-08.45 Chris. The web-site says it opens at 10.00. Are you going?
  15. Went to a meeting of the SJCC ( Shropshire Japanese Car Club) on Sunday, in the snow, and the guys are keen to see more Lexus at there meets. The car looks a bit lonely amongst all the high performance cars. They were amazed at the sparkle of the Mesa Red paintwork on my car, so may have won some over to Lexus. They are meeting at RAF Cosford this Saturday. http://shropshirejapcarclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=798 Sound a bit early for me, but Cosford Aerospace Museum is a great place to go, and its FREE!
  16. Thanks for help on this one, been trying for ages to change photo.
  17. I got quotes for my new one off the internet and then took the prices to the dealer to see if they could match them. The i called Lexus Nottingham and spoke to Matt!
  18. The only way to add a speed camera to your sat-nav is to add it as a POI as you drive past or after your have safely pulled in after it. There is no way to download them onto your system. Don't forget this is a Lexus and it is trying to pamper and protect you by saying "you left your pucking seat belt off".
  19. I have an old TomTom 3 on a Dell Axim in my van and its always 10% slower than the speedo. Guess its all to do with how fast your processor is and how many rubbish programmes are running, same as any PC.
  20. Grreat choice of colour Shoggy! It really shines and sparkles when the sun hits it at the right angle. Given up trying to finnish the manuals, something about men and instructions.
  21. The second time you put your card in is for verification Steve. You may get a lot of vouchers but have you noticed all the offers that have gone from their website. Last year we got cheap flights and car-parking for our main holiday, but that has all gone now. Even the car-hire is going soon.
  22. Oli i have a set going free. And if you are also in Shropshire, that make two of us.
  23. I have an SP9000 off the old IS 200 going free, you can have the rim also.
  24. Fred I took a computer print-out from drive the deal.com to my local dealer and asked him to match it. I also had a contact at Lexus Nottingham who said he would match the price. Then after several calls to Wolverhampton and Nottingham, i settled on a deal from my local garage. Even i was suprised how much they were willing to discount by. Good Luck
  25. Have i missed this already but did no one see the governments proposal to allow motorists to pay to use the hard shoulder on selected motorways? They are going to call it the "Lexus Lane" as only rich people will be able to afford to pay the charges.
