  1. Marcus, Lexus Birmingham charged in £1,000 to supply, paint and fit a spoiler to my GS. Dont forget to also changed the boot tension bar for a sport model, as the extra weight of the spoiler will take your head off if the wind catches the boot lid. I have bought from Lextasy via e-bay and found then slow and even slower to give feedback.
  2. If you press the lock button a second time within 5 seconds of the first press it activates the deadlocks. If you listen to the car you will hear them engage. If you press it a second time after 5 seconds then it turns off the internal sensers and flashes the idicators many times to indicate this. Now try finding that desciption in any GS handbook or how to check the gearbox oil
  3. Hi, I have a set of GS mark one alloys with tyres for sale. 2 x fronts bought brand new last May from Lexus fitted with Toyo TS 1 (tyres have only done 3000 miles and cost £300 the wheels cost £450) 2 x 10 inch rears (secondhand but in good condition) fitted with Toyo TS 1's again these have done about 15k miles and look to have about 4mm on. One spare front wheel in very good condition fitted with a 4mm tyre One spare front wheel in very good condition rim without tyre. Complete with nuts, locking wheel nuts and centers. These came off my GS 430 which I have just sold. As they are in excellent condtion with good tyres I am looking for offers over £1,100.
  4. At last the IS boys realise if you want real performance you have to put a GS300/Supra engine in. ;) :D :D :D :D :D :D
  5. This is one quick IS..................IS Turbo
  6. Sorry Guys, I won't be there now as the GS is sold.................. Cheers Sportie
  7. I have a set for sale, complete with blubs, checkout the buy and sell section. If your interested make me an offer?
  8. saadlogic, This is not a fault, its designed that way so that you could not open the boot by accident whilst driving. You can open it by pressing the remote button on the key whilst the engine is running, that's the only way I know to get around this issue. Dave
  9. Jac, the ones in Grim's post will not fit your car, they are for the US spec GS's which have the side light in front of the wheel arch and are larger. European lights are more square and are fitted behind the front wheel arch. So be careful! Mudzs, Is the yellow you can see when you look into the lens coming from the bulb? If it is you can swap the bulb for a silver one which flashes orange. That will make them appear clear. If their is a orange lens in there it may be possible to break it up through the bulb hole and remove. Then fit the silver bulbs in which flash orange? Just a thought?
  10. I had this problem on my 1999 GS300 Sport also, never got it fixed and in the end swapped it for the 430. At first all seen well but after about 14k miles it started to vibrate at approx 60mph like the sport. Dealer balanced wheels, tracking etc, still did it, changed front wheels to rear, still did it. Swapped the wheels and tyres for TTE 18inch, guess what? still did it. I also knew about the pretension problem of the rack (seen it on the USA sites) so I told this to my dealer who at first was interested as they said they had another of their customers with the same problem. Then they refused to touch the rack, said they were changing the TC in this other customers car. Glyn was your car in at Coventry? But was then told that that did not fix the problem and they did not know the answer to mine. Then in December last year i saw that the front tyres were bald on the inside edge 6mm on the rest of the tyre. So it had a four wheel alinement £150 which cured the wear problem. It also fixed the vibration problem and its never come back. So in my case it was not the wheels, tyres or tracking it was the camber angle :)
  11. Jac, I will get it out over the weekend and post a picture of it, if its what you want just pay me the postage. Dave
  12. Or you could try this new atomic digital clock atomic clock I think it's Irish? ;)
  13. Keith, I have a GS 300 series one grill on my shelf in the garage, its not a sport one its a standard one in Gold. Any good to you? Cheers dave
  14. I had exactly this problem, bald inside edge on front wheels after 5,000. Lexus sorted out the camber problem with a four wheel alinement and two new tyres. :D
  15. Check with your insurance company as you will be removing a safety device!!!!!!!! i.e. no payout in the event of an accident? :o
  16. And the GS 300 brakes are the same as the GS 430, So IS 200 has excellent brakes!!!!!!!!!!! :D
  17. Keith, Sorry for not replying sooner, I too bought the Halfords brace with a reversible socket 19mm 21mm Dave
  18. Tony, O2 do offer the P800, as that is what I have, £149.00 on a anytime250 minute tarrif. (and unlocked not like orange who do) Don't forget that you can only view excel and word documents on the P800, you cannot create or edit them as you can on a PDA.
  19. I have a P800 after having loads of Nokia's. Best phone I have ever owned and I have had a mobile since 1988,so as you can guess I've had quite a few. It does everything you could wish for and more, I resently had one of those Oranges SPV's it lasted 2 days before it went back for a refund avoid them like the plague.
  20. Sorry but I believe the wiper switch you refer to is not about wind noise at all, its when its snowing and snow piles up below the wipers, you can park them higher and avoid damage to the mechanism. I am sure this is mentioned in the handbook? On series two GS's you have the same feature, however with these cars you manual pull the wiper arms up until they lock in the high park condition. :)
  21. Keith, The wheel nuts are different as you have discovered, be aware also that the locking wheel nuts need to be replaced as well as they will have the wrong profile. I have been to halfords and bought a second wheel brace for mine.
  22. I run 18 inch rims on my GS, Fronts are 245/40/18 and the rears are 275/35/18. They are more uncomfortable than the standard 17inch and 16inch wheels. I don't agree with the bigger the tyre the more comfortable the ride, I believe and know from running 16, 17 and 18's on a GS that the bigger you go the smaller the profile and loss of comfort.
  23. As one of the few members who have owned 3 GS's, one series one and two series two's it has to be..................................... A series one Sport as the best looking. However in ever other way the series two is a far better car.
  24. I shall be going to Gaydon If anybody wants to get there quickly down the M40, they are more than welcome to follow me. Just look out for me! You can't miss me with my new paint job :D :D :D :D ;)
