  1. If I drive steady computer says 27mpg, if I drive it quickly then the computer tells me 11mpg.
  2. Don't think about bringing the car to Birmingham Playa, Cause after the shootings in Aston they are stopping all cars with tints. They test them with a meter and if they are two dark they take the car off you!!!!!! or peel off the film stuck to the glass. All over the local TV news programs, showing then stopping cars and peeling!!!!!!!!!!!!! .
  3. I know how to enable the satnav system to take route changes whilst the car is in motion, and how to connect DVD players to the built in screen. PM me if you want the low down :D
  4. An IS is more like a Toyota, a GS is a proper Lexus, more toys, quicker, bigger, idea for a family car :D
  5. Sportie, Sporties Son and Sporties Daughter will be there, 3 members in one car (must be a record)!!!!
  6. Zee, Count me in to the Midlands Mini Meets (MMM) Dave
  7. I am sorry but TBH its not my driving that would worry me but somebody else hitting the car and writing it off. To replace the GS is £40k, nobody in their right mind would not cover that risk. The insurance to cover that cost is £380 (taken from the website) I don't want cheap £80.00 insurance that goes nowhere near covering replacement costs, should the worst happen. So in my case it is £600 and thats the reason why I shall not be attending, no other reason!
  8. Evidence of Zee Dent at JAPS weeks before JAE, and still not fixed :( :D :D :D :D
  9. As one of those who was interested in going, I am sorry to have to say that I am no longer interested. Why? The cost of the event is far too high and that's why I shall not be coming. You can book it yourself cheaper than £175, but it's the £380 cost of insurance to cover the car added to the entrance fee that rules me out. I certainly would not risk the cost of replacing the car should it be damaged without the insurance cover and I cannot justify spending over £600 (with petrol costs) for a couple of hours driving. Sorry
  10. I had my series one GS 300 63,000 mile service done in march 2000 at Lexus Birmingham. This included the cambelt, sparkplugs, oil (Mobile one) and all the filter's etc Cost £494.30 including the vat Sounds like some dealers are taking the ****
  11. Lexus don't mention in the handbook of either series one or two about how to check the oil level in the auto gearbox. Does anybody have any idea's on how you check the levels in a series two? i.e Hot or Cold?, Engine runing or not?, In drive or park?
  12. Be thankful that the IS has the instructions in the handbook, the GS manual says it has deadlocking but has no description on how it works. However I have found out that one push of the key, locks the car a second push within 5 seconds activates the dealocking, however a second push if you wait longer than 5 seconds turns off the internal sensers and flashes the lights 5 times and leaves the deadlocking off. So as Toyota often share components, has anybody tried the second press (waiting longer than 5 seconds to see if the IS works the same as the GS. On the other point about the knobs on top of the dashboard, on the GS the one is the auto light senser (it also does the dash lights) the other is the A/C temperature senser, could the IS be the same?
  13. They are mentioned in the series two workshop manuals but never offered as an extra in the UK. Sounds like a worth while project :)
  14. Thanks Mark, Hope to spend some more money with you in 2003 :) :)
  15. Loz, I think your statement is wrong, just change the word "Men" for "Women" and "Women" for "Men" and your statment would make more sense. Just my thoughts :D
  16. Can you not get the error codes out of the ECU?, which may point you in the right direction. Sound like you got damp in a connector somewhere, so the system was giving faulse messages?. :duh: Just my thoughts
  17. I have just had to change the front two tyres on my GS 430 because they were bald on the inside edge of both fronts. They were new tyres 4,000 miles ago so I suspected the suspension alinement. The whole car was way out front and rear wheels, Lexus will do it but its not free. Mine charged £120 + vat and took 3.5 hours. I shall be keeping a close eye on them now, as the whole event cost me £600
  18. The Dealer is ripping you off the prices are nowhere near that high I paid less than half the price you quoted for a front wheel and got two including the vat. :D
  19. What's MPG? more like GPM when I drive it quick (150mph+) and when I have the flat cap on and the pipe going, it's 28mpg. Roll on the Diesel Passatt
