  1. Thnks guys. Black mats it will be then. Roonaldo - how do you find your interior looks/wears? It is being Supagard treated pre-pickup so hope that helps. Brian :) Fine, its still spotless, the only problem I had was when it came back from the dealers dirty after some warranty work!! They got a professional valeter to clean it in the end. But I find a clean washing up sponge and plain water is best at getting out any marks. PS defo the best colour combo IMO :winky:
  2. I've managed to sort this one out, so if anyone is interested:- You can play overburnt CD's in the new IS, up to 878Mb per disk. It wouldn't play tracks above this figure, but up to around 878Mb is OK. There is no loss in quality. This compares to the standard 80 minute 700mb disks, so you get over 1Gb of extra mp3 space across your 6 CD-changer. To get this to work you need to buy some 99 minute 900Mb CD-R's. You also need a CD-burner capable of overburning. Most are nowadays. You also need CD-burning software that allows you to overburn, ie Nero 5,6,7. You then need to configure Nero as per here Click me There is some other useful info here, look in support:- Click me Hope this helps somebody, it did me :winky:
  3. Copycat :P PS invest in some black mats, they are better wearing than the beige and look better IMO.
  4. Yes, the SEL is quiet and Sport is firmer. Dont they have a Sport and SEL for you to test drive? Javeed Javeed, Have you driven both back to back for an extended period of time? I own a sport and have had an SE for over a week and done hundreds of miles in it, and there is very little in the ride and nothing in the noise. I have had the SEL until last week. I have driven the Sport for almost a week now and can feel everything on the road. It may be the roads in Tunbridge Wells! Having said that, its not noisier, I love it, especially the color - Mesa Red. It might be worth people checking tyre pressures. I've had cars come out the dealers with very wrong tyre pressures.
  5. True, and so is an Audi A4 and Jaguar X type.... Mondeo X Type :P

  7. That's how I understand it to. So you can indeed feel the power "going to waste" so to speak, but that is a slightly artificial scenario, does it make much difference in normal driving - including fast road driving? There's not really enough power to take advantage of the LSD in the Sport.
  8. I think he's on about the old IS. I don't think any of the new IS's have a LSD
  9. hmm.. i must have a glitch.....i push and hold the button until it beeps..it has the rand illuminated and underlined and also a disc icon....but still only plays from one folder....i havent actually let a whole track play whilst testing this merely advancing to the next track (i have tried several times/several adnvances)..so this might be causing the problem :duh: There is your problem then. If you go to next track manually with controls on stereo or steering wheel then it advances to next track in the folder not next random track.
  10. You have to either press and hold the RDM button or press twice, I can't remember, check the manual or try it. You can play randomly across one disc, but not randomly across all 6 disks.
  11. Got the car back on Saturday and life's good again! It was unfortunate it happened but now the marks have gone in the back and passenger's side. There is still a small mark on drivers side, but the are to replace this bit of the upholstery. The dash rattle is gone, anf the other bits and pieces were done first time. I am very happy to get my car back!! I hope these issues are behind me now because, to be fair, the car is fantastic!! :winky:
  12. I forgot to make a note of the odo, will do in future. But there was no reason for anyone to be in the back of the car..... I will check the average fuel consumption when I pick it up, because I do know that. I will be contacting LGB, but I want to be get the work done first and be in possesion of all the facts. I will also check the odo when it goes back in to have the seat covers replaced in a couple of weeks. My main worry is that its now had the dashboard out, and the seat covers replaced and its only 5 weeks old.... They better have it back to "as new" condition and no rattles afterwards or I will be taking this further. I am not happy!
  13. My car went in last week for the mandatory dash rattle. Whilst it was in I thought I'd get a couple of minor issues sorted aswell, handbrake tightened, steering wheel slightly off centre, no probs......... When I went to pick it up, the upholstery was dirty, both front seats and rear seat!! This is the cellensia seating. So naturally I complained. They said they would send it back to the cleaners and I took the courtesy car back home. Next day i got a phone call saying they were going to get a professional valeter to look at it... Today, I am told they cannot fully get the marks out, and Lexus GB have told them to replace the upholstery! This will take 2 weeks or so to get from Japan though. The snowball grows.... Should i complain do you think? Or wait to see if they get the job done properly...
  14. Change gear earlier unless you are pushing it...I change around 2000 - 2500 rpm in normal driving.
  15. This is not my first diesel, I've also got a pegeout 807 2.2d family car which DOES achieve the stated fuel economy. I've also owned other diesels in the past and have had no problems. Sixth gear at 70 mph is not possible in my car as there is too much vibration and labouring of the engine, so I have to stay in 5th and tend to cruise at 75 mph. Last time in Lexus Poole, they alluded to a possible problem with fuel economy but were not permitted to say any more, so maybe there is a problem with early cars, who knows. I'm going to speak again with Lexus again when I go in for the seatbelt recall. I wasn't trying to teach you to suck eggs :winky: , but that figure does suggest something is wrong.. I know 6th at 70mph in the non sport models is not really possible, but 75mph, like you state, is OK isn't it?
  16. This is astounding!! After 6500 miles my average is 36 mpg. Most of my driving is on the motorway, 5th gear, cruising at 75mph. Not impressed. I always achieve more than the quoted figures for the diesel. Both in my Sport and in the SE I've had for the last week. Averaging 36 mpg seems low. At 75 cruising you should be in 6th I think even in the non-sport drive ratios. Is this your first diesel? I don't want to sound patronising, but to get 36 mpg on motorways, sounds like you are driving it wrongly, or there is a problem? If you drive a diesel like a petrol you don't see the full benefits of a diesel. To get the best out of a diesel, you need to change gear at much lower revs. There is no problem with the fuel economy of the Lexus diesel. The figures are easily achievable.
  17. I've had an SE diesel for a week now, as mine is in for the famous dash rattles, so I can give a more considered view. The sport is definitely quicker. No question. If you put your foot down in the sport, you get immediate response (assuming you are using the gears correctly), in the SE it takes some time to get on the power band. Acceleration is better in gear and feels generally quicker overall. I don't like the gearing on the SE. I have heard peolple speak of the gearing before but having only previously driven the sport, I hadn't really appreciated the difference. Its basically a 5 speed and, as such, I was always in a gear lower in the SE at the same speeds. The gearing in the sport is much better IMO, sorry but thats being honest. Fuel economy is better in the SE, about 3-4 mpg over my normal commute. I got about 3-4 mpg above the quoted combined figures in both cars, which is nice :winky: I missed the parking sensors, the electro-chromatic mirrors and the fact that the mirrors dip in the sport in reverse so you can see the curb. I also missed the look of the 18 inch wheels. I liked the leather seats and the cooling function though, very nice touch.
  18. B)--> QUOTE(Carlos B @ Jun 17 2006, 07:46 PM) ← yes that is it in a nut shell..but when are lexus going to wake up!!! alan Not sure it's just the new IS. New GS appears to suffer rattles, as did the RX350 (with only 60 miles on it) that I drove at the Glasgow open road event. Add to that the dissatisfaction of the IS diesel drivers with 6th gear being unusable and lower than expected fuel economy and Lexus sure have a problem. I don't think there actually is a fuel consumption problem... I have a diesel sport and have consistently got a few mpg over the quoted combined figure from new. I have also had a diesel SE for nearly a week (because we DO have a dash rattle issue :winky: ) and that has returned above the quoted figures aswell.
  19. I've just noticed that you can now buy CD-R's at up to 100 minutes! This would be very useful for me as my music collection on mp3 comes to 6.5 normal 80 mins CD-R's, so I need 7 CD's for my collection. Obviously there are only 6 CD slots in the new IS. If I could use larger disks it would fit on 6 :winky: Has anybody tried these in the new IS? I know you need to confirm your CD-recorder will do overburn etc to actually make the disks, but assuming it does will the disks work on the IS? Cheers,
  20. Over the SE you get:- VDIM memory seats/mirrors/steering wheel position etc Rain sensing wipers front and rear parking sensors HID headlamps with I-AFS Electric adjustable steering column Sports suspension sports pedals scuff plates 18" wheels differnet final drive ratio Everyones different but for me the Sport is great value. Its worth the extra for the 18" wheels alone in my book. I think its more comparable to the SE-L than the SE for equipment and its alot cheaper than the SE-L I don't really understand this? In gear acceleration is meant to be quicker in the Sport.. I would be very surprised if the overtaking capabilities of the SE were better than the Sport
  21. I apologise then fella, and your right, calling it dyslexia is taking the pi$$ Chipping a turbo gives much better results than a Normally aspirated engine.
  22. Because after reading it a couple of times, I still wasn't sure what he was going on about to be perfectly honest.
  23. I understand all the words, just not in that order....
  24. B)--> QUOTE(T7RY B @ Jun 5 2006, 05:57 PM) ← Just put your new "private plate" onto the car. When you come to sell the car tell DVLA that you are taking off your "private plate" They will issue you with a new plate. Either your old number if they still have it (most likely) or a new plate of the same year as your car was registered. Exactly
