  1. Think it might be you Steve. Just scroll down until you see reply.
  2. http://www.lexus.co.uk/#Introduction I would go into Lexus Aberdeen and point out the warranty cover and hopefully they will then sort things out for you....they don't pay for it as they invoice the warranty provider. I am assuming of course that the car was purchased as a lexus approved used car.
  3. Don't forget that Lexus dealers will frequently discount from the screen price. The standard used approved 12 month warranty that comes with Lexus used approved cars also gives MOT cover and full breakdown cover including Europe, and accident recovery for you and partner. Regards servicing it depends on your anticipated annual mileage.
  4. Having just looked at the Lexus.co.uk website I discovered the following which is the final paragraph detailing the Lexus Used Approved Warranty. All Approved Pre-Owned Lexus Car warranties include wear and tear cover for batteries, exhausts and wiper blades for three months or 3,000 miles. You say you purchased in November so the exhaust is actually covered according to Lexus UK so I fail to see how Bolton can dispute this.
  5. Well at least Duncan has had various viewpoints which may help him decide on which avenue to pursue for a purchase. Certainly worth having a really good look around to see what is on the market within budget. Best of luck whichever route you take Duncan.
  6. The point I was making was that if you buy from any dealer.........including non franchise dealers then you have legal protection should a problem arise, this protection isn't there when buying privately. If you read my earlier post you will see that I didn't advise to buy from a Lexus franchise.
  7. Buying from a private seller carries its own risks. At least buying from a dealer, whether Lexus franchise or otherwise, there are legal safeguards should any problems arise. This is true of any marque really but Lexus are amongst the more expensive for parts/repairs should they go wrong. If buying privately at a good price service history and mileage are important as many aftermarket warranty companies require service history and a limit on cover dependant on mileage on the car.
  8. Lexus warranty is good but how good value depends on how much you are paying compared to buying from a reputable non franchise dealer.
  9. You can have MOT done at any time but if done within 1 month before expiry of current MOT the new certificate will be valid until 12 months from expiry of old MOT in effect the cert will then be valid for 13 months.
  10. Put something in writing/email with details of your many phone conversations first and request their immediate attention as this is affecting your car and could cause further damage. At the end of the day it seems that the pre-approved inspection was somewhat sloppy and the car was sold with an obvious repair to the exhaust shown by the whitish grey paste. Under Sale of Goods Act they are liable for rectification of the fault and the obvious course of action would be to allow Aberdeen to do the work and invoice Bolton. It would be best to send your email with full details to the dealer principle and copy to Lexus UK. It might also be worth giving trading standards a call too. To be expected to pay £420 on an item which should have been picked up is ludicrous when you have owned the car for such a short time and completed so few miles.
  11. That looks as if it has been previously "repaired". Look at the signs of white repair paste around the pipe/box joint. Lexus Bolton should be replacing the box as it was obviously substandard when you purchased it. As a used approved that should have been picked up on the inspection and service. Amazed that the MOT did not pick it up and issue advisory at very least. Was MOT done by Lexus Bolton themselves or did they take it elsewhere? Armed with that photo you appear to have a cast iron claim against the dealer..........with or without warranty cover they are liable for either fixing it or paying for it to be done elsewhere. Don't let them fob you off. If they get away with things like this they will continue trying it on. I would also contact Lexus UK with details and the photo. Lexus Aberdeen could always approach Bolton to back you up.
  12. Is it definately coming from the flange or from inside the box when you knock the flange?
  13. Given the time that you have had the car and the low mileage you have covered I would think that it would be covered under Sale of Goods Act. You may find that Bolton service will say not covered by warranty and any claim under S of G Act would probably be referred to their sales dept. Either way you should be covered.
  14. There are an awful lot of LPG/Autogas suppliers in UK where you can fill up. Even rural Lincolnshire has a lot of suppliers. The following might be useful to owners of cars using LPG. http://www.drivelpg.co.uk/i-have-lpg/where-can-i-purchase-fuel/ As for BP "mucking you about" Brian I think that you will find they still have many outlets supplying LPG and any they have stopped selling LPG from will be on purely commercial grounds.
  15. I always use APH at airports and they do operate at Southampton Port too. Depending which cruise line you are booked with there is also ABP who have parking located both inside the port or off port with transfers.
  16. Level should never be checked cold, check when engine has been running for 10/15 mins. The following link gives extremely good info on the subject. http://www.agcoauto.com/content/news/p2_articleid/89
  17. Invest in an inflator that plugs into lighter/accessory socket, easy then to check weekly at home when tyres are cold to get correct pressure. It will soon pay for itself.
  18. One thing that you have not factored in is inflation. Your costings on the 4 services do not take into account any annual increase in individual services which would affect the cost with and without your discount so that is another thing you need to consider.
  19. Gang, if you had read Dutchies post correctly you would see that he didn't say speed does not kill. He said that speed itself never kills. He actually was correct when he posted. " It is always speed in combination with something else that creates danger. rain, fog, dense traffic, lorries and so on". Drive within your capabilities and the capability of the car and hope others do the same. People get killed in collisions even at low speed. As for tramlining in the tracks left by HGV s over the years, I have found that the wider the tyres on your car the more this occurs.
  20. Dude???? I didn't say that you were maybe careless with the keys did I? If they were both replacement keys then a previous owner has either lost or broken keys when they owned the car. For 2 to break inside under a month does indicate previous misuse. Scan this forum carefully and see how many posts are in relation to your issues compared to owner numbers and it is clearly no more a prevalent matter with Lexus than any other marque. As for unbreakable keys I think that they might be somewhat impossible to source.
  21. 1 guy from parts at a Lexus dealership in USA showing you how keys can be sorted does not really mean that there is a big problem. It was the guy not the dealership and certainly not Lexus themselves. After nearly 14 years of owning Lexus with that type of key I can honestly say I have not had any issues and have not really noticed anything other than occasional threads on this issue. My cars have been sold with 3 original keys undamaged and I know other owners who have not had problems. Whilst keys do get damaged/broken it is often through misuse and damage to them whilst not in the car and is not restricted to the marque.
  22. I don't think that this is a common fault. Is it the "key getting dodgy" or is it more to do with the ignition barrel itself? Which part is the "flimsy plastic".
  23. A 431 PTP was based at Farnborough Police Station then Aldershot to cover the M3. I had an ex Met Jag Mk2 3.4 in the early '70s when I was in the RAF.
