  1. Here's another fine example of Matthew "the wireless wanderer" McNally's artwork. Cheers Matt
  2. Just had mine replaced during a service and they are complete rubbish now at any speed over 40 mph. Think I'll get myself some silicone jobbies (not implants <_< )
  3. Cheers mate - do you want to PM me your email address
  4. I'm using a 3850. I want to get the bluetooth stuff for it, but I'm having trouble justifying it to my company. Tight Gits Today theme looks good - nice touch. Thanks for the effort. Have I got to have an image on a web page to be able to post it here (I was going to post the screen shot with your theme loaded) or is there another way ?
  5. Wow Matt - how do you have time do these things - looks like you've got a heavy schedule meeting with......Yourself I'll put it on my iPaq - thanks
  6. I always use Draytek Vigor ADSL routers. They come in different flavours and can be found at www.seg.co.uk. They are a router, switch/hub, firewall and VPN device all in one. Never had a problem with any yet and must have installed about 15 of them at work.
  7. Good luck Tony Remember - they want your cash and they want to sell the car - it does them no good having it sitting on their forecourt. Squeeze every last penny out of them mate :P
  8. I would be absolutley amazed if that's all they knocked off the price !! I have never bought a main dealer car and received less than £1750 off the forecourt price. Don't assume that just because it's a main dealer the prices are fixed and non-negotiable. Or, for that matter, that they have cars that cannot be bought for less than a private sale. I know this seems hard to believe and it is not always the case (obviously) but it is by no means unusual. Case in point - I bought my GS from a Lexus main dealer - Forecourt price £16000 - sold to me for £12750 with full Lexus warranty etc etc. If Lexus Hadleigh are offering a grand off the price straight off and you think that's a good offer then take it. Alternatively haggle some more and get an even better deal. No offense to you, but I would say that the fool was the one who took the main dealers first discount.
  9. They used that on my GS as well. It's a quality oil, pricey but well worth it
  10. I'm currently running Continental Conti Sport contacts. They've proved excellent in the dry and quite hard wearing. I have to say that it's a different story in the wet though, even with 275's on the rear it takes no provocation at all to spin them up. Happily I find the car very controllable so it just makes things more fun, so long as you know that you are going to lose the rear end if you are making quick starts or kicking down out of corners
  11. Claire You won't find me disagreeing with anything you said there In fact I couldn't agree with you more Rick
  12. Clare, at the risk of sounding like a complete ***** - I think that if a broadcaster has the stupidity to try and show something like that then they should be allowed to go for it. Snuff videos are an extreme example because they are illegal, but I take your point. What we musn't forget is that these commercial channels can only survive if they sell advertising space and who would want to have their advert placed in a slot during something so controversial - they wouldn't want the association. We have a watershed (such that it is) and programmes that are broadcast after this time could theoretically contain all sorts of undesirable things, but those watching should be old enough to make up their mind whether they want to see it or not. The sad truth is that there are people out there who want to watch this sort of thing (there are even sadder people who are making it) - as long as there is an audience the programmes will get broadcast. I, for one, am glad that this is the case. I'm well aware that some material might offend some, but entertain others and I can understand why people get upset that it is being broadcast into their homes - however, by virtue of the fact that you are on this forum means that you are accessing the medium that has the most outrageous material in the world, the internet. If you are going to complain about an explicit programme on TV why aren't you all complaining about the material on the net that is seriously more offensive. Or maybe you choose to exercise self censorship and just accept that it is there but doesn't have to be viewed. You got me started, but I think I've managed to stop now....phew
  13. Whilst I wholeheartedly agree that it was disgusting and am distressed by the fact that this sort of thing happens in the world, (these so called artists get away with too much under the "it's art" banner), I am glad that we live in a country where we can broadcast anything and not be subjected to censorship. Be your own censor because you won't like it when it's done for you.
  14. How much ???? :o I've just had mine done and although it included front pads it was over £700 after my Gold discount What amazed me was the labour rate of £69 /hr. :o :o :o OK so I have no problem with the quality of the work they've done but they must have some massive overheads or they're making big time profits ! Come on Lexus I didn't pay that much when I had my Aston Martin serviced. Having just moaned about this I have to admit that I wouldn't have anybody other than a main dealer do it purely for the Full Lexus history thing. It might help marginally when it comes to resale value (or just make it easier to sell privately to a punter who relies on this sort of thing when making a decision) I would also add that I don't believe for one minute that a good independant garage is in any way less competent at working on my cars than the main dealer. In fact I've had major problems in the past with the quality of main dealers (not Lexus) servicing my cars. It all boils down to who they have working in their garage - they are either good mechanics with good working practices or they are grease monkey apprentices without experience or supervision. I do not intend to tar all apprentices with the same brush - I know there are some excellent ones out there. Looks like I'll have to consider making a trip to Brimingham if I want to make some savings that exceed those that even Gold membership can offer !
  15. Just had the big service done on my Mk1 GS300 at a main dealers - if I wasn't a gold member I would be a great deal poorer today (I do feel pretty poor though, it wasn't cheap)- In fact this one saving has secured funding for my Gold Member status that will last way beyond my ownership of the car. Here's to saving more money in the future - Go Gold - Can't think of any reason not too
  16. Each to their own I think the old site was much nicer - This seems so flat and bland. No problem navigating but pretty uninspiring really. They've even got the new (Mk2) GS300 tech spec showing for the GS300 Mk1 from1993. Not the sort of attention to detail that Lexus wish to portray
  17. I had to buy one while I fantasised about buying the real thing. - Then when I bought the real thing I got given a model of it in the same colour as the full scale version - Nice touch ! Loz - Don't fantasise - just do it, I promise you won't regret it (except possibly financially :o ) It was one of the best things I've done in my life (got to be careful in case the missus reads this ) Go for it - I've got an excellent contact for sales if you need one.
  18. Aston Martin DB7 x 2 (one Blue one Green) Aston Martin DB5 Porsche Carrera GT Mercedes CLK GTR Ferrari 550 Maranello Lamborghini Countach 5000QV Dodge Viper Jaguar XJ220 (1:12th scale) Tyrrell P34 (six wheeler F1) 1/10th scale Ford GT40 Mk11 on order with Exoto Imminent purchase of a Diablo SV (Auto Art) And many, many more to come !! Just got to fnd somewhere that my two year old son can't get to them !!!
  19. Went to the Aston Martin factory at Newport Pagnell. Amazing place, incredibly skilled people, all in a timewarp environment. Not been to their new facility at Gaydon, but not really bothered as it can't possibly have the character of Newport Pagnell. British craftmanship at it's best.
  20. Yeah, thanks very much - nice touch !
  21. Yeah that was a great car - Ford Torino. Still got a Corgi model with the two plastic characters holding some misfit up against the car !! There used to be some saddo near where I lived with a red Vauxhall Viva and he painted the Starsky and Hutch white stripe down the sides - BY HAND - nice job :duh:
  22. I was thinking about a couple of women in tight catsuits, half unzipped (as you do while bored at work :P ) and I remembered the Cannonball Run and the Countach that featured. One of my all time favorites (the car not the film). It got me thinking about what cars I remembered from TV and a memory came flooding back from the New Avengers - Steeds Broadspeed Jag XJ Coupe with the fat wheelarches. As a kid this rocked my world because you just didn't see anything like it on the roads. It was the start of a long slippery slope into petrolhead-dom :eerrrmm: What were you guys' favourite motors from the big and little screens ?
  23. Last chicken at Sainsburys !!
  24. Sorry Matt Red Ostrich from Dominican Republic !!
  25. Having seen elswhere on these forums concern about reference to someone's (or somethings) sexual persuasion, I wondered if it was only me who wishes that I shouldn't have to care how something was said or to whom it was said. Sure, I would always maintain politeness - I wouldn't want to be purposefully rude but don't get me started on manners - that is a long post that I can't be bothered with at the moment I feel that people are slowly losing the ability to laugh at themselves - if you can't laugh at yourself then you have absolutely no right to laugh at anyone else TV is getting so wrapped up in not offending people that it is far too sanitised and nannying. What's the point of having a watershed if they still have to warn you that there's some strong language about to come your way or, heaven forbid, some nudity. If you don't like it - turn it off, you have the power to do so, no one is making you watch it ! Monday morning moan over !
