  1. I swear by the Draytek Vigor range of modems and routers - built in switch, firewall, modem and wireless if you want. Set up in 5 mins and very reliable. Use them at work and I've got one at home, never had any problems.
  2. Just got my copy of the new Lexus mag and saw they are running a trip to the Goodwood Festival of Speed again this year. Excellent, I thought - I hope it's as good as the Summer Ball/Festival of Speed event that I went on last year B) But, oh no - because last years event was so successful they are running a ballot on the tickets - fair enough maybe but here's the crunch - it's limited to 16 couples only :duh: :duh: :duh: :duh: If it was so popular last year then why have such a minimal availability this year - absolutely ********* ridiculous I know you get a helicopter transfer to the circuit and an exclusive hotel but why make it so exclusive that hardly anybody can take part - Lexus you are complete idiots and I'm right pi$$ed off
  3. Yup, that works too, but it won't stop someone having access to information about your machine. :o
  4. I hope that's because you have a child and need the extra space to get them in & out of the car and you aren't just using the space that someone else has a genuine need for You wouldn't guess that his sort of thing is a bugbear of mine would you
  5. Steve Those pop up messages are a big problem these days. If you want a good place to go to understand what you need to do to prevent these then go to this link:- Pop Up Message Solution Basically, you have to prevent UDP & TCPports 135,137-139 plus port 445 - you can do this via a personal firewall. Hope this helps because those pop up spams drive you crazy :arrrggg-matey: Cheers Rick
  6. Good on you Dave, wish you all the best... I used to be my own Boss and I miss those days but I got frightened off with IR35. I console myself with having paid days off and the state of the contracting market. If you're good though you won't have any problems finding work, I've been interviewing contractors for general IT support stuff and 80% of them haven't even lasted 10 minutes in the interview before I've sent them on their way because they obviously don't have the skills as presented in their CVs. For example - did you know that a VPN means you can sit on the beach and access computers all over the world without having to log on to the internet ?????? Or perhaps, you would use a router for situations where you have lots of servers and if one fails the router will take over and pass the data onto a server that is still working ?????? Unfortunately that is the state of some of the supposedly "experienced " contractors out there - so you should have a head start on the competition. B) B) B) Go for it :D
  7. A few of the bulbs in the high level brake light mounted in my spoiler have blown - do I need to replace the whole light unit or can I get the individual bulbs to put in there ??
  8. Flipping heck, I've just had to explain this to the people I forwarded it to here at work. What a bunch of Divvys I enjoyed it though
  9. We had this on our IS300. Our local dealer (Lexus Hadleigh) performed a mod to the electronic transmission control and sorted the problem straight away. We were informed that they are the only ones who have done this mod and they were in talks with Lexus Technical to formalise the process ! Good luck B)
  10. That makes no sense to me because my car is a '97 model and has the brake light in the spoiler. Besides you can't see the brake light in the rear window if the spoiler is fitted so what's the point of it being there <_< I accept that the log book won't always state "sport" because there was a thread about this a while ago and people have got genuine sports models that don't specify this on the log book.
  11. My MK1 Sport has "GS300 Sport" on the Registration document and on the service book so I have no doubt it's a genuine factory Sport variant. I think you'll find that the black plastic cover on the rear parcel shelf is just a blanking cover for the location of the high level brake light on the non-sport models. It makes no sense to have a significantly different setup between different variants when it is only consmetic changes between models. The old high level brake light couldn't be seen when a sport spoiler is fitted so they just covered it up with a slab of black plastic (which is warped on mine and vibrates against the rear window ) Mudzs - I would ask your main dealer why you haven't got the brake light in the rear spoiler, the Sports should defintiely have one there :arrrggg-matey:
  12. I thought of a spark plug and it got it in 18 questions. Jammy git You were thinking of a spark plug. Is it round? you said Partly, I say Doubtful Does it have writing on it? you said No, I say Yes
  13. Matt That really depends on how quickly you can get up in your pigeon loft with yer flat cap on to see if the carrier pigeon has arrived :P :P :P
  14. Folks On my Mk1 GS Sport there is a plastic cover (where the high level brake light is on the non sport models) that has warped and twisted from prolonged exposure to hot sun. When I'm cranking out some tunes this piece of plastic vibrates against the rear windscreen and seriously *****ses me off. Can I replace this part and is it easy to fit or have I got to have a visit to my local Lexus bods. Thanks
  15. Nice one Gordon - mine arrived this morning :hocus-pokus: Thanks for sorting the deal out
  16. Nice one Matt - the worrying thing is that it ended up reflecting reality too closely in some respects
  17. Welcome back Loz I reckon that your speedo should be reading correctly because you have now got lower profiles but bigger rims. If you had kept the same profile as you had on the 16" rims then you would have had a problem. I stand to be corrected but I think you'll find you are OK.
  18. I'm up for a set for my Mk1 GS300 The size I need would be GS300 (93-97) 1 x 19" & 1 x 21" standard finish at £27 please Thanks for sorting this out Gordon - top man
  19. Chris Won't they just use the springs that are standard on the IS300 ? I thought they were about 15mm lower or something like that.
  20. LOL - It's amazing seeing everyone getting away from the toll booths - 15 lanes down to 3 in the space of a few hundred yards - quality Reminds me of a rolling start in a NASCAR race or something
  21. I'm in good old Sunny Southend Essex - work in Bromley, often in Watford and Leatherhead (family) So I get to see plenty of M25 action
  22. I've got the original instructions from justin Crockett for the mods that needed to be done to the Mk 1 radio. Its the same as Rodders is describing - I'll email the pictures to you but here are Justin's comments about the mod:- Firstly, do you have experience of surface-mount technology? If not I suggest you don't touch the radio. Secondly, do you know how to remove the radio from the dash? Again if you are not sure seek professional advice. Now that that's over I've attached two drawings from the Pioneer manual. The two capacitors to remove are C101 and C102 on the Tuner PC board. both are of 0.056mfd and are chip capacitors that shunt the junctions of R101/102 and Q101 and Q102 to earth. They are fairly easy to locate, just follow pins 25 and 26 from connector U21 (in the middle of the board layout) through R101 and R102 and the two capacitors shunt signal to ground on the base of Q101 and Q102. This is a totally unofficial modification, you carry it out at your risk. Roughly the time constant of 2.2K ohms and .056mfd is: 123 microseconds, the correct UK FM de-emphasis time constant should be 50 microseconds, however this is already accomplished by C151/R151 and C152/R152 on the Tuner PCB (3.3K and .018mfd = 59 microseconds minus a bit for source impedance is probably 50 microseconds) I reckon they mis-specified C101/102 they should be more like 560pf
  23. I saved about £125 on my big 63k service (plus some brake bits and bobs) - Happy Days :D
  24. Congrats Tony on your new purchase Hope it exceeds all your expectations. The good thing about buying from a distant dealer is that you get to have a decent drive in it straight away !
