car went in to lexus birmingham on wednesday for the following: -drivers seat squeak n leather cracking (replaced with whole new seat incl cover) -drivers front side wheel damaged when last in the dealer centre (replaced with new wheel) -driver n passenger air vent rattle (said they have fixed the problem by fittin dampeners around them) -driver n passenger seatbelt housing rattle (have re-fitted them) -satnav misrepresents itself on startup for a bit and also after when parking after selecting reverse gear (said they couldn't find a fault with it n the systems take a while to locate themselves. They aren't instant. ) -plastic casing around gearbox rattles alot,not the vibration around the leather (have again fitted dampeners around it) -main speaker on passenger door sounded like it had popped (have fitted new speaker) -rear view mirror vibration (have fitted new one) All in all quite a good job. All the problems seem sorted. The only thing is the rear view mirror still vibrates when the music is on. Usually have the volume around 20-30 and all options (bass,treble etc) in the middle

is that on a 3yr pcp for both?? how come the bmw is less? coz the future value is higher?

what is auto nacelle info?? and which modified cams?? am driving a 2008MY se-l with all extras, drove it to london yday on m40 n m1, and must say u hear the wind noise much more than my 56plate SE-L. the rear view camera looks same too. i am starting to like the lighter interior though, cream or grey...

I had the same squeak coming from my driver's seat as you have. Lexus Glasgow acknowledged it straight away, and said they'd get an upholstery company who specialise in cars to fix it. And they did - when I got it back they'd replaced the foam, so no more squeaks, it feels the same and you'd never know they'd had the cover off. Funny that one dealer will take this approach, while the other will replace the whole seat. hmm..strange...no idea! :) I had the same squeak coming from my driver's seat as you have. I have a creaking drivers seat,started about 2 months ago,seems worse in the morning.What's actually causing this? ya mine is actually worse in the morning too. dont know whats causing it..but if Alan had his foam replaced that fixed it..maybe its the foam? hard to see the foam causing the noise though!

oh ok. anyone know of a way to find out if a certain car is 2008 model other than seeing it in flesh for the changes. lol

business manager @ lex milton keynes said the convertible version should be out within the next 2 years latest. said theres a few other models coming out on the IS range in that period.

dont know..was registered in march 08 or something. cant be a pre-reg, coz with UK law, u can only sell after 6 months..?? am i correct in saying, 57 plate onwards, the seat pockets need to be the soft type, and the scuff plates light needs to be in white n not blue? what bout the auto-locking, is that on 57 too?

know the is range had a few slight mods after the 57 reg was introduced..was this when the new seats were introduced with the soft back pockets, and white lighting on the scuff plates? And the switches for the fuel cap and the boot lid side by side, was that on the 56 plate? or also 57? just askin coz i was lookin at a 08 reg SE-L, which still had the original seats (the seat pockets were of the harder types), and the scuff plates lit in blue, not white. any ideas?

did they test drive it with you, or know what the problem was when u called? who did u deal with?

hmm...well lex birmingham just rang me today. have got the authorisation now to replace my drivers seat, and the front divers side 18" wheel damaged while in their possession. So will tell them about the air vent and my gear box n see what happens. If not, i dont know. maybe lex wolverhampton. dgman what which air vent was urs? and what did they do?

me too. am either thinking of changing it for a newer version, 57/08 plate or a audi a4 new shape. or maybe even a gs or rx

ya it is worse in the heat..much worse. heard a very loud rattle yesterday around the gearbox..not the leather gaitor but the black plastic/rubber panel that surrounds it (where the gear numbers are stuck on in silver)..

is one thing that annoys me. dont they have a checking system? someone that cheks the work is done and also the quality of it?

well..been a while since Lex Birmingham have taken my car in to look at various rattles/squakes. Sat-Nav-they couldnt find a problem, but when they take it in again, will put 17" OEMs on it to see if I experience the same problems, if I do, then they say sat-nav is fauilty. (I have upgraded to the 18" hoshis). problem is when i start the car for initial minute or two, it mis-displays itself and also when i park up using the reverse gear and then 1st gear, it does same again. seat - service manager has "ordered" a new drivers seat R.V mirror rattle - new one put in, this one vibrates though, so will get them to look at it. Gear box rattle/vibration - added padding to stop it seat belt tensioner passenger n driver- fixed When I went to collect my car a month ago, the service girl said the new seat cover had been fixed including the seat squeak, but when I got into the car, the seat looked exactly the same with all the creases and squeaks still there. She was adamant it had been replaced. I then spoke to someone her senior who was also adamant it had been replaced and even said "I can show you your old cover", at which point the service manager came to see me and explained that he had ordered a whole new seat to sort out the various problems I had with it, which was awaiting authorisation and once that had been done he would fiit it. Was quite unhappy that I was told by two service staff something completely different, I should have taken up that lady's offer of seeing my old seat cover. lol. Glad though that I know now atleast what the situation is. I also noticed my front right alloy wheel had been damaged, looked like a chunk of the metal had been taken off. It didnt look like a kerb though, looked like some tool had caught it or something. The service manager again has agreed replace it at same time as the seat. So unlike Coventry, they have acknowledged a few problems and tried to fix it, and will raise these issues with Birmingham again on the next visit. I have also rang Lex GB regarding this, and the £50 they promised me if another dealer acknowledged the problems I pointed out that LExus Coventry said didnt exist, and have since recieved it. Obviously it doesnt cover the inconvenience etc etc, but was just a point I wanted to make to Lex GB as they were so adamant there was nothing wrong. The only other thing is the front speaker on passenger door, which is proving very hard to demonstrate. anyone know how much they cost? Hopefully on the next visit, Lexus Birmingham can sort out the remaining issues.

got the same issue here...like u say its not constant. still annoying tho lex birmingham changed the r.v mirror and that rattle has stopped. but now it vibrates when i play my music at a decent level using the MM!!! will get themto have a look at it when i take it in next

the service manager at birmingham did say it was the rear windscreen. so not sure..

anyone know if u can get mudflaps for the is250 in the color of your car? want some on mine..but dont think black ones with look good on the gold car?
