  1. I had the same warning about 2 years and 100,000 miles ago, the warning stayed on all of 1 day but I had to keep driving it untill it could be investigated the next day by which time the warning had gone off, I was told it needed just a software upgrade which was performed whilst I waited for 1/2 hour and touch wood no more bother to this day.
  2. I suspect it is because you have energised the Hybrid system so the car thinks you are trying to drive with a distraction. Please try pressing the Power/Start button without touching the brake pedal, this is like the ACC position on a mechanical steering lock ie extras work but no engine. Please let us know if it sorts you out. Regards Tony
  3. Hi Ray and welcome to LOC, good choice of new wheels! I too went down the Honda Accord route for several years with the 3 door Aerodeck and the last one being a 2.2 4WS which I thought to be a brilliant car in the early 90s but then felt Honda switched towards the fleet market which I now fear Lexus are doing. The CT 200 is quite basic even in the SE L guise and no sunroof option ! That aint a Lexus in my book, anyway rant over so enjoy your new car. Regards Tony
  4. My 2006 450h has a CO2 rating of 186G/KM and so cost £235 for 12 months this August but I think the CO2 figure was shaved to 185G/KM? on newer modela so cost slightly less.
  5. Hi Matt and a warm welcome to LOC Spec it up and dont worry about higher mileage, my 450h SE L is now on 125,000 with no aggro and is faster, economy holding at 37MPG per tankfull and the batteries seem to hold and recover charge better than ever, car seems really fresh after all this work and indeed is only 1/2 way through its life as all my cars have to cover at least 200,000 before I cahage them. Have thankfully never used the pre crash system but adore the adaptive cruise control and sun roof.
  6. Well done! you will enjoy this car, mine is now on 130K stills runs and looks perfect and I still prefer driving it over my GS450h, will squeeze just over 400 miles from a tankfull with mixed driving and I find it a usefull load lugger/dog transporter. I have mine serviced by a independent garage but now see Lexus offer a discounted rate for older models plus up to 20% off for gold members of this owners club- could be less expensive and they ( Lexus Milton Keynes ) collect and deliver. Welcome to LOC and enjoy your car.
  7. Hi Mine is exactly the same with my Blackberry Storm, I find the best way is enter most used manually in the speed dial presets as these are the only ones you can view/dial when the car is moving so seems little point in entering the rest, if you have to stop the car to use the touch screen I feel you might as well use the phone hand set. Regards and welcome Tony
  8. Hi Ed my 300 Sportcross OSR lamp also let water in but no crack on mine just a dodgy seal onto the bodyshell, all the roof and windscreen water runs down the pillars against the rear lights. You need to remove the rubber seal around the door, the black panel on the lip (with the tie down points)bend the internal trims in to allow you to see the back of the lamp unit, held in by 3X 10 mm nuts to the body shell. The difficulty then is how to remove the lens and then get the dampness out, mine spent several nights in the airing cupboard before being dry. To be honest if Lexus had quoted me £95 I would not have done it myself but touch wood I do seem to have cured my problem with a mastic bead where the two parts meed (for some reason it has a sponge gasket which surley absorbs water !) Good luck Tony PS is that quote to replace the whole lamp as the lens is bonded on?
  9. Just done a check on the DVLA site, road tax for upto 2005 IS200 model is £260 for 12 months , not £445, so that saved you £185 already :winky: Dammnit! I just bought a pre March 2001 registered IS200 specifically so the tax would be lower. Fail... major fail. :( The changeover date to the high rate is vehicles registered before 23rd March 2006, anything before this date is the max as quoted by other posters.
  10. It's only on the LS and the RX - perhaps the next GS might have it? I wish the door mirrors would auto fold in when the door are locked, drives my cazy having to find the button hidden in the flip down panel and then having to open the door into the traffic with no mirror. Is it me ?
  11. Interesting, my 2002 GS300 wouln not run on LPG, my previous Omega ran for 200,000 no bother from the same installer and they advised the Lexus as a good car to convert but a complete disaster with the exhaust valves in spite of flash lude and 1 tank in 3 of petrol used, Lexus say it is the VVTI system cant cope eith the extra heat.
  12. Had mine converted 3 years ago and killed the car, 2 X blow ups and numerous breakdowns, had flash lube fitted, what a disaster like Lexus told me ( after I had it fitted)
  13. Hi, strangley enough this topic has re emerged this week with the photo you are looking for, look back a few posts for "Part identifcation help" by Jimmy Wales, I wonder if you have a different problem as neither of us with broken brackets had the warning light come on. Good luck Tony
  14. Hi Steve I use my 450h as a works car covering about 1000 miles a week of mixed driving, if I concentrate it will average 40 MPG on a fill up, have not re set the main trip computer for 85,000 miles over which she has averaged an impressive 35.9 MPG. You can not thrash these cars ( prison beckons if you do! ) but I dont hang about and it still makes me grin every day with its overtaking ability. These cars are more about high performance than just econmy. Have not tried 1 with 17" wheels but the ride in mine is superb with the standard 18" wheels and the suspension set to sport (also sharpens the power delivery but not by as much as the PWR control ) If you do go for a 450h try for a SE L it is worth it for the Adaptive cruise control alone, the best invention on a car since brakes! Good luck Tony
  15. A spot of grease on the valve thread to stop corrosion between the two different metals then nip the dust cap up with a 10mm spanner stops all the above problems except the errant shopping trolleys but home shopping delivery will cure that as well.
  16. Hi Jimmy, it is the headlamp leveling devise, mine broke off just like yours and Lexus do not supply just the bracket but want about £250? for the complete unit, I removed mine and took it to the local tractor repair shop who spot welded the bracket together for £2, he said it was the 1st Lexus he had repaired all week! no more bother but I was puzzled why the dash light did not show when it broke, in fact only came on when I re fitted it but went out after some lube and adjustment. Regards Tony
  17. I agree, no sunroof will stop me from buying one, I looked at all the cars on sale at Lexus Milton Keynes this week only 3 had sunroofs, 1 RX and 2 LSs, used to be they all had sunroof but the "dont need coz it has air con " argument does not wash with me, I allways prefer to sit in the sun not shade, and feel less boxed in even with the glass roof closed.
  18. Hi Ed my Sportcross did exactly this, turned out to be the leveling bracket on the rear axle had broken, it is a device to alter the headlight level when the car is loaded. I think the swivel had siezed so the bracket failed but it is only available as a complete unit from Lexus £200 + ? if I remember correctly. I removed mine freed the swivel and took the whole thing to a local welder who repaired the bracket for £5 !no more trouble since. Just have a look at the N/S of the rear axle from behind to see if yours has done the same. Good luck Tony
  19. Hi, mine has a 215 spare tyre which was a virgin wheel and tyre when I bought the car so I presume that is the correct size. Regards Tony
  20. Is thal all ? one Lexus dealer quoted me £240 for a GS bulb plus fitting ! but mine turned out to be the control unit so was covered by the warranty. I now extend the warranty so MOT failure is covered as well. My Sportcross N/S bulb went out for about a week then came back on and has been no more bother for about a year so I don't know what goes on with these bulbs but am amazed how the price varies, both my cars have the same bulb so I now have two from ebay in stock but have no need to use them since so still dont know if they will work.
  21. Hi and welcome to LOC, Have you thought of a IS Sportcross? same brilliant build quality of the last generation Lexus but a little more unusal and a lot more usefull than the saloon, the 300 model is auto only and drives really well. Driven sensibly they return similar consumption figures as the 200 but do perform well when you want it.I really like ours and prefer driving it over my GS450h, it feels more traditional and involving (but not as fast!) Good luck with your decision and enjoy looking. Tony
  22. Sorry you have so badly misunderstood this, its all about driving aware, concentrating on the road and not having to stamp on the brake pedal. It improves safety and reduces fuel consumption, no bad thing and not a joke !I spend so much time stuck in jams caused by collisions (not accidents) as a result of bad driving.
  23. Do you guys use the tiptronic to slow the car down ? harvest the energy back into the battery, slightly higher corner speed so less fuel burned to recover speed and cleaner front wheels ! Works for me and makes me think about the road.
  24. Hi I imported one of these for my GS450h, it refused to work, once connected I lost all sound from any source. The manufacturer claimed the 1st unit to be faulty and so sent another but when our customs wanted the import duty again so I gave up and had Lexus MK fit a Ipod lead which works fine. The Vaistech unit was very easy to fit to the GS with piggy back plugs but I cant speak for a LS. Good luck !!! Regards Tony
